Considering how highly so many rate him that was garbage. Could you really see anything other than a goal if Aguero got free like that?

Got what we deserved. Any United fan can see we desperately need a striker. LVG evidently can't see it. In some ways losing might be good for us as we have been really poor in the league and this might be a wake up call that the first 3 games flattered us.

Well done Swansea.

I think we need another wide player as well, I love Mata but a right winger he is not.

I'd take Mane and Berahino right now, they aren't world beaters but think they are better than Route 1

I don't think LVG's philosophy or his approach in general is ever going to fit into premier league football. what we need is the Utd of old, fast, fluid attacking football, pissing about at the back like we are now with this boring slow build up is hurting us, we keep getting caught and punished.
Why don't we shoot now? we try and walk the ball in until it is to late then we bring the hair bear on out of desperation.

Yep,under Fergie the tempo was so high that other teams were swept away!

Genuine question - what happened with LVG's Utd? I remember quite a while back, several months into LVG's tenure, a lot of people were saying things weren't looking much better than when Moyes was at the helm, only for all you guys to say the football you were playing was much better, much more progressive than Moyes and you could see the progress heading somewhere.

The LVG style is slow and deliberate. He might be better as a rugby coach where the players have brains. I think he confuses some of our squad so they do not play naturally.
I went to a few games at OT last season and by and large the play was turgid. Buying more players does not appear to have fixed anything, yet. I am not optimistic.

Evidence of the crucial need for someone remotely competent and consistent up front.
Evidence of the lies that huge amounts of possession tell and how it saps any urgency from a chance.
Evidence of how LvG might simply not be the answer. If Moyes had £150m he'd have done better. LvG is surviving on his calm, controlled, all-knowing persona and (modest) reputation of yesteryear.

However, Shaw is much better.

Lack of pace. The team needs real pace... at least two fast forwards who can run at defences repeatedly.

Mind you, that accusation can be levelled at most PL teams of late.

Man. U of old, nay years ago, at least a decade, always included pace.

Honestly, as soon as LVG said it was his way full stop and was not willing to listen to anyone else I had a bad feeling about the whole thing.

I don't think he is the right guy for this league whatever the club, you need to adapt and he is unwilling to deviate at all. The Premier league is unique and if you refuse to adapt then you get what you saw today.

I actually will be surprised if we don't do well in Europe where his methods will be more in line with the style of play but we will be nowhere near winning anything domestically in the league or cups.

We've got the players to play fast tempo football we've seen glimpses of it this season I'd say usually in the opening 20 minutes. It seems lvg sts his pants and orders the players to play cautiously.

Horrendous performance.

It's hard to imagine a worse performance from so many good players in the side. I think we are worse than the sum of our parts, which does make you question the coaching.

Blind isn't a centre back, and Rooney isn't a striker. Rooney should have scored two or more today, yet he was barely even criticised.
