I think he's the kind of manager that would attract the right players that's for sure

LVG to me seems like bloody hard work to please.

For me a lot of this is as bad as Chavs fans saying they want Maureen gone.

4 games in, we're 5th having only lost one. We've played decently in Europe admittedly against lesser opposition but the football is there , we just aren't there yet in the PL. There is a long long way to go and far too much knee jerk at the moment.

Rooney cant be used as a striker he had two goal side chances that he should've created.

Depay to me seemed like he didn't want to take players on today, did anyone else notice?

We don't look any worse than Chelsea and Liverpool, that's for sure!

The league looks very flat this year - a lot of teams look 6/10. On this evidence, City could win by 15 points.

Agreed.

I think a lot of people are panicking because the transfer window is about to close, and they see that as our last chance at turning us into a title winning team rather than the struggling to get into the top 4 team that our performance today implied.

It was a bad result/performance today, I just hope we don't make a panic buy on the back of it.

We are playing the same as last season with the same results. Only an idiot repeats the same mistake and expects a different outcome.
We are UNITED FFS.
Long punt up to the No 10... ‘On me ‘ed son!’
I can go down the park for that rubbish.

How hard can it be?

Our best striker is past his best and short of pace. Having signed two crap forwards for £££ last year, we go one better and sell them with no obvious replacement. We tell our super sub striker that he can leave with his confidence shot.

Youth?
Wilson scored two good goals vs Hull at the end of the previous season, since then: Barely a few appearances.

LVG is out of here in May 2017. He has a very slim chance of winning the Premier League at this rate.
Geoff Boycott’s Mam could do better.
So no, this is no knee jerk. United have been pedestrian under LVG since the day he walked in. United win trophies with skill and pace.

He's been here one season! I think people forget just how dire we were under Moyes. We finished 7th ffs.

LvG has got us back into (and qualified for) the CL. Yes the football isnt the Utd way and is dire at times but there are also glimpses of what it can be. Or should we become the next Spurs and fk managers off every other season when we lose a game or 2?

If we go backwards then yeah. If we don't improve then yeah. But 4 games in and one loss calling for his head is madness.

To be honest LVG's comments to Sky after the game kind of sounded like nothing is going to happen..

"When you are scouting players, you know already which players you can buy, it is not the last moment. When you see the game you will see we are the dominant team.

"You are asking me the same questions."

So basically we are going into the season in this situation up front. It's hard to believe that somehow despite allowing RVP, Falcao, Di Maria, Nani and possibly yet Hernandez to leave we have only brought Depay in.

As for the GK situation - is DDG really not right in the head to play? Surely if he was he would play him anyway - we can't seriously be intending to sell him now with 48 hours to replace him, so if he's not going then play him. The mind boggles.

You think he is going to admit we were st to the press? Don't be daft. He's never discussed transfer business either.

As for DDG he always said we will review the situation on Sept 1st. He'll either stay (and play) knowing he needs to perform well to keep his Euros place and go on a free or he'll go tomorrow.

Apparently this is LvG leaving the Liberty tonight, does he look like a man happy with our performance?

No I wouldn't expect he would say we were st. Not sure where I said I did.. Nor would I really expect him to openly say much beyond what he has said before on transfers - "it's a process" etc. But he has basically said that nothing last minute is likely to crop up, unless I am misunderstanding him.

As for DDG you are right, he has said that. It just doesn't make sense to me to leave a world class keeper out of the squad - unless like I said his head really isn't right. And if he is sold tomorrow / Tuesday then I hope to god they have something lined up.

Bet it's not a fun trip back up north though smile, looks like he's just found out Giggsy's been in his sandwiches.

Anyone know anything about Anthony Martial?

Guy who broke Falcao to us last year has said we've bid for him.

Martial - young, french, bags of potential, pacey. Would be a massive bid though as I believe he's just signed a new contract!

I don't think LVG's philosophy or his approach in general is ever going to fit into premier league football. what we need is the Utd of old, fast, fluid attacking football, pissing about at the back like we are now with this boring slow build up is hurting us, we keep getting caught and punished.
Why don't we shoot now? we try and walk the ball in until it is to late then we bring the hair bear on out of desperation.
Yep,under Fergie the tempo was so high that other teams were swept away!
Too much romance...

Didn't LvG say he wanted more creative and faster players this season ?? didn't he regret DiMaria leaving ?? Falcao (and his pricetag) couldn't deliver. Looks like ManU has a problem; too many topclubs, too few quality players available or wanting to come to Manu.

When Ferguson was in charge (not in his last couple of years, the team he left behind was old and/or lacked quality; ask Moyes)the world of football looked a little different, the PL itself included. ManU was at the top of the pyramid, ManU only had to pick and choose the players it wanted. Now Barca, Real and probably Bayern are in that position; with the City's, Chelsea's and PSG's in their slipstream.

But still; Depay, Schweini and Schneiderlin in this season isn't bad. If only a striker and right winger could be added...

I don't believe LVG should go but I do agree with a lot of comments here. He has brought some discipline to the club, which I think was lost under Moyes, but he is too authoritarian in my view. It's his way or no way.

This shows in 2 ways for me.

1. On the pitch. All is fine so long as we control the game. It doesn't matter that his team does not entertain, so long as we control the game and create one or two chances.

2. This "philosophy" is going to put a lot of players off. Those that don't want to play to an authoritarian system and those that feel their flair will be stifled by an single minded boss. Maybe Pedro?

I think the best we can do this season is qualify from the CL group, and make the top 4 again. We have fk all chance of winning the league.

There is no knee jerk from me. I've said we have been awful from the minute we kicked the season off. I don't see any progress and don't see that the current style will yield enough goals, let alone entertain anyone.

Under Moyes we were clueless, under LVG we have a system. The end result is the same. We are st and entertainment is not the plat du jour.

Giggs must be pulling his hair out.

Watching today,it was kind of like owning a Ferrari but only using second gear. He has to let the team play, use the skills, take players on, be fast down the wings, shoot from distance, be creative. I really do not like this sideways backwards approach and it looks like the defenders have lost faith in the goal keepers feet.

I can hear the crowd on a good home game, it has been a while since I did, we need passion and drive back.

Exactly my thoughts. We've got the team to play fast paced football but its lvg's Philosophy' that doesn't allow us to go ahead and do that.
