Being reported this is our second bid for him. Can't recall him being linked to us before the weekend. Hope its not a panic buy.
We ( Spurs ) offered £14M & Monaco told us to up it to £20M which we baulked at apparently,I suppose being Man Utd you are always going to have to pay a bit extra,
This takes LVG's spending to around the £265M mark. Football has just gone crazy, Best, Charlton, Greaves, & the likes have just been born 50 years too soon.
Well Navas coming the other way would at least be a better option than just Romero, but if he doesn't want to be here then what does that mean - another ADM situation? Nuts it's been allowed to be left so late. So amateur. Of course you could also say well played to Real Madrid - leave it so late we have little option but to take Navas off their hands for them.
Also if the Hernandez and Januzaj to Germany (sale and loan) are true then with only Martial coming in we are further reducing the numbers up front? Seems bizarre, surely there has to be 1 more in the pipeline inwards? Feckin hate transfer windows, especially these last few years. What happened to getting it all done early?
Chuffed about Martial though, exactly the players we should be looking at for the future.

LVG is having to rebuild the team and also get them playing in his way of thinking. Its a tough ask but he was told to get United back into the Champions League which he did last year. This year we should push for the title, but whether that happens is another thing. City look very good but Chelsea and Arsenal are not playing well so we could be in with a chance. Yes is not exactly the United way of playing but we have had the best defence since last November and all the best sides have an excellent defence to build from. We do need more attacking threat but this will come with the team pushing up. We look a bit too defensive at times.
On transfers we did most of our business early which is good but have lacked on a striker. Big issue is that with all the new money from the middle east United dont have the financial muscle we once had.
Real & Barca will always have the pick of the best players.
PSG and City have oil money so can pay the crazy tranfers fees and have everyone on 200k a week which is an attraction.
Bayern are similar in terms of financial clout and history to United but they have Pep.
Arsenal & Chelsea have London as their main attraction.
If your one of the top clubs in Europe why would you sell your best players and when they are winning titles, and earning buckets of money elsewhere why would they move?
People moan about spending 36m on a teenager but all reports he is very good, in the france squad already, quick and strong. 36m is nothing these days in terms of cash with all the money floating about and we need to take a gamble. Utd preferred him to Pedro as he is 10 years younger and does have some resale value if needed.
United used to play 4-4-2 but we play 4-2-3-1 so you dont need 4 strikers.
Overall I think United have done well in the window and if we can get another striker is I will be happy.

Bang on for me and he is setting us up for the future, Shaw, Delay, Martial, Darmian, Schneiderlin all 25 or under so long term acquisitionsYes is not exactly the United way of playing but we have had the best defence since last November and all the best sides have an excellent defence to build from. I thought Lacazette was valued at a similar amount ~50m EUR. He also has a much better record than Martial - wonder why you guys didn't go for him instead?
Martial had been scouted for a while, so perhaps they figure he has more potential. Also have to factor in that Lacazette may not have been as available I guess. I wonder too if someone else has been sniffing around Martial and it's forced our hand, so we are then prepared to let Januzaj go out on loan now. Still think we need +1 experienced CF though, if Rooney picks up a knock or his poor form continues we are woefully short on experience in front of goal for a club supposedly competing in the Champs league, Premier league & FA cup.bstb3 said:

What Utd need are players to deliver now, not cross your fingers for a few years time. Like when you bought RVP a few years back.
