So Martial in for £36m and Navas in for DDG and £29m our way.

He was due to sign for someone, possibly Fenerbache, but the deal fell through because he tried to change his personal terms.

Edit - wasn't Fenerbache, it was Besiktas.

£29m overall sounds right. not a bad deal really, considering only 1 year left until he was free. The highest ever price for a 1 year remaining contract apparently - so comedy timing aside Ed done good. Presumably LVG ok'd the Navas inclusion so no harm there (provided the player is up for it).

We'll have Rooney, Martial and (currently) Wilson as recognised forwards, Depay maybe can play that role too (not sure) and for some reason LVG reckons Fellaini also is an option. In a 1 striker formation that's possibly enough for a season, with smart rotation and a lot of fortune, but personally I'd say it's taking a massive chance with Rooney's fitness and form that he is up and ready for all the big games - without him its a big experience gap, a crazy gamble imo. Rumours that Wilson is possibly going out on loan too. I'd be happy with 1 more, but who is available now so late in the window? I should have faith though that we are letting all these guys go someone else should be lined up...

There will be a base fee, which will be quoted by UTD sources to make it look as good as possible for us, then a full cost fee (base + add ons, bonuses and maybe even wages) quoted by anyone linked to the selling side (Monaco, agent) to make them look as good as possible. None are wrong, just different interpretations depending on what colour you wear. Either way it's a lot of money at a young age, but then if you have the money, we do, and he's the player we want then why not?
