Terrible performance.

Blind is dangerously slow against counter-attacking teams; centre-backs can't cope against pace; and Falcao is Falcao. On the upside, Herrera looks good.

It is worrying how blunt we look when a team sits back completely. I know all teams struggle with that to an extent, but it almost looks like we just don't know how to deal with it. We have created barely any chances, just like against Chelsea.

McNair may well not play for us again. He has pretty much shouted 'You were right! I am turd!' into LvG's face.

Thought McNair outperformed Smalling by a good way whose touch has been terrible again. As others have said, 2nd half not at the races.
Gutted after our recent upturn.
What's been wrong with DDG today - is he slightly injured or already on the plane to Spain?

The latter. His bags are packed.

Massively massively missed Carrick these last two games.

We really are quite poor when he doesn't play.

Can't blame today purely on missing Carrick can we?

How much is De Gea worth? £50m?

Not with 1 year left on his contract.

I imagine the conversation at the moment goes like this:

MU: Sign for 5 years now and we'll let you go next summer. Just don't stiff us out of the transfer fee.

DDG: Nah.

MU: We will pay you £200k per week.

DDG: Nah.

MU: What will it take?!

DDG: Manchester to be in Madrid.

It's easy to underestimate how much more attractive it is to players (and their wives) to live in Madrid/ Barcelona or even Paris or London rather than the cold, rainy North West of England.

Yep, I can see us getting stiffed and ending up with £25m. Can we possibly get that plus Casillas, I wonder?

Nah, but it is a big part of it. Carrick gives those around him a lot of confidence.

I really do rate Blind for his passing, but is a million miles from being a leader of men. In his own quiet way, Carrick is the closest that we come to a leader.

Herrera is growing into quite some player, though. I think he will look brilliant next to another dynamic midfielder when we get one!

With only a year left on his contract you will do well to get £25m.

Hernandez just scored a nice goal for Real, still not sure I'd have him back but he's on a hat tick now and he's playing well with great movement and two good finishes.

Little cutie pie.

Cutie pea. He was more use to us than Falcao.

I sense end of season blues. Fourth place means a play-off vs Who Knows FC. Third is ECL proper. You'd think it was worth fighting for.

That was so st,were the players drugged ? The sluggishness was ridiculous .

A shame ,the weaknesses are clearly evident ,but one bad performance in the last 6 games should not take the sheen off the recent form.

No plan B...if the passing/possession game doesn't work we don't know what to do.

Completely ineffective from wide, Young and Valencia again, unable to beat a man and get a good cross in. When we lose this we don't seem able to create any other way.

Gundogan looks an option for finding a striker from deep, but will rely on movement and also space in front of him. Watch our strikers yesterday, Rooney, Fellaini and then Falcao, none of them moving to create any space for a through ball. All of them waiting for the ball to go wide and then to come alive....against a disciplined and organised defence you'll always struggle unless the final ball, the cross, is bang on the money.

Shocking performance.

yes

All our play was in front of their back 4, basically park the bus and we cannot get through, this is where we need players like Depay (and an in form DiMaria) to be able to get in behind and cause trouble.

As you say a deep lying playmaker like Gundogan would help. I think it also shows that while we have all enjoyed Young and Fellainis resurgence under LvG they still aren't league winning quality.

I was literally shouting "Move! fking move!" at the TV. We would pass the ball sideways about 10 yards outside the area, with nobody (NOBODY) looking to play 1-2s or little triangles or, indeed, do anything to create some space for a shot. We had 3 or 4 players just lined up, holding hands with their markers and looking at the man on the ball.

It was as bad as the worst games under Moyes.

Those poor Scousers were not paying attention though. Nicely turned over by one Steve Bruce tonight.

Could Hull stay up and Newcastle drop?
