Isn't that the point though? Two defensive midfielders that allow both "wing backs" to break forwards without leaving a fairly new central defence pairing some support?
Not when you are playing sunderland, maybe for city you need 2 defensive mids, but vs teams with 10 behind the ball you need a bit more mobility and invention .Great workmanlike performance. I'm prepared these days to almost write off the first half of football as seemingly the instructions are retain possession and don't lose the game, lull the oppo. into a false sense of security and then bang....
I was celebrating wildly at home watching the game on some dodgy buffering internet when Mata's goal went in. I had a fiver on Depay to score first and a 3-0 win.

I was thinking similar. First half always seems dull, boring, tedious keep ball football. Then second half they attack and score goals. I was celebrating wildly at home watching the game on some dodgy buffering internet when Mata's goal went in. I had a fiver on Depay to score first and a 3-0 win.
Not a great situation to have 2 central midfielders on yellows in a high tempo match like this. Mata was doing well for the first half hour and Martial looks like an incredible prospect, he really could score almost any time he picks it up. Just their good offside trap saving them - up to now...

Agree about the mids, let's hope we pick it up in the second halfImpressed with the chances we're creating, Memphis and Martial are exciting to watch which is nice to have again while watching United. It has the feel of one of those games where we have an alright performance but a draw/loss. I hope I'm wrong.
The defending for their goal was just facepalm.

I'm giving up passing comment. Said Mata was rubbish last week & now he's perked up, also just said Martial was great and he's hardly touched the bloody ball since!
...so I'm going to say that Chelsea and Arsenal were mad to let these two go fingers crossed!
