I had a season ticket for 29 years from being a young lad right through until the end of the 2010 season. I walked away then after becoming bored with our football and to an extent bored with the success.

I went expecting to win and hoping to be entertained. That was not ideal. There was little excitement at a victory and lots of pissed offness at a loss / draw.

When I started going I didn't know if we were going to win /lose or draw but was usually guaranteed goals. That was fun. It was even more fun when we started winning trophies and did so holding the attacking values true. Throughout the 90s and into the 00s we were an unstoppable force of attack minded players. Then we got dull, it started to creep in with the RVN era where the approach was to lump it to him and hope we scored.

WhennMourinho brought his full style to the PL it killed off flair from most teams and we've gradually got worse. The only exception to this was the emergence of Ronaldo who kept the style flowing alongside Rooney. When he went so did our passion and so did mine.

Childish reaction, the part I took out was the only part affecting Manu's present, the rest is just romance.

Sorry, but you don't win trophy's with romance.
But you do win them with kids wink
Please explain yourself Zoon. Just posting random statements without subject matter makes it a guessing game.

quite often now MOTD have us near the end of their programme as there are very few highlights.
That's a good point actually and something I've noticed as well. We used to be almost always be on first or second it felt, but now I'm not really looking forward to games and I'm spending the time watching them mostly being frustrated. It is wearing thin now, I'm glad we're winning obviously but I don't enjoy watching by any means.

I'm still trying to be patient but it's becoming difficult.

Loon, given the info from your round-up on the "hey look at me being such a trusty old bored United fan" you've seem to have reached a certain age, which again doesn't reflect in the above. You expres yourself as a disingenuous child.

What's the frustration Loon...coffee

Sad news about Moyes. What next?

I was wondering the same. He had a job for life at Everton, but reached too far. SAF needs to accept some of the blame for that too. Moyes may well have to drop a division like Mclaren to regain some credibility, as I don't think he'll get a PL role again straight off.

or (because he never needs to work again anyway), he could jut walk away for at least a year or three. Probably the right idea IMO

Not sure that's in their genetic make up. Look at Fat Sam, he must be set for life by now but won't quit no matter how many times he gets sacked.

Indeed but a special case I think. His stock seems to get more valuable each time he moves on because he's carved himself out a niche as a firefighter/survival specialist. If he keeps Blunderland up this season he will be able to add a zero to his next salary demand! (such is the value of staying in the Prem).

I think as a form of entertainment we were spoiled under fergy because he was a huge gambler. No incoming manager can afford to gamble like he did.He built up a legacy and reputation to such an extent that he was untouchable and could indulge in his gambling without fear,if we finished out of the top four he wouldn't be sacked .
No new manager gets that privilege,United are a business ,they have to finish in the top 4 ,managers cannot afford not too.

As for stats, far too easy to misinterpret .We had 2 shots on goal vs west brom, but we had 15 attempts.City had 10 attempts vs Aston villa ,are they dull ? when teams have actually had a go at us we've had some very good games,Southampton,Everton etc .

Not the stats I saw. They said 10 attempts too. The thing for me is that unearthed both games and one had a team trying (but failing) to score, whereas the other had one not trying (but somehow succeeding) to score.

I understand the business side of things, I understand the need to rebuild, I've seen it many times. However what I don't understand is the point blank refusal to try to score.

I found a site which says we had 7 attempts ,so we can deduce that the stats are not reliable.

So your saying lvg team talk is 'listen lads, whatever we do today...don't score '?

As an outsider looking in it does look that way. I doubt it works like that, but what are our first half stats like? Have we even tried to score let alone scored a goal in the last two months in the first half?

If you take a step back and look at what LvG has done then overal its a pretty good job so far. He came in after the shambles of Moyes, bought some new players in and had a goal of getting back into the Champions League which he achieved. During that first season we had a leaky defence, lots of rotation on the team due to injuries, and yes we scored a few but conceded quite a few as well.

This second season he has again bought new players in, and the key bit younger players, cleaned out more deadwood and is trying to rebuild the team and get them to play his way. We have the best defence in the league and are very hard to beat. Yes attacking wise we look dull and it certainly needs work, but the dutch way is posession football and keeping the ball. Its not the United way but as many said we have been spoiled under Fergie. Yes this season may be a slog and it maybe dull to watch but we don't know what goals LvG has been set by the club. I presume top 4 again, knockout stage of the champions league and then a decent run in the FA cup. I would hope that next season we will be in the postion to play more in the style of old and be very attacking.

United Fans need to realise that we are now like any other club who change their managers and go through stages of having to play a different way and have a different style of football. Yes I would love to see the attacking football of old, but the world has changed, money is more important than ever and managers need to get results first and foremost, the style of football comes second.
