hehe He reckoned we were the best he had seen us at Chelski. Can't wait to hear what st he comes out with today. Our ability to score goals is absolute zero.He needs a good slap!!
It's a strange thing, but I just can't take to the guy. Maybe it's because Moyse was drummed out without being given a chance or maybe it's this idea that to be a top manager you have to be foreign. Either way he seems to be out of his depth. What's the view from the die-hard fans?

He is a mixed bag. Good and bad. He's great at setting up a team to keep the ball but he doesn't get the best out of flair players.

Moyes was beyond awful and had more than enough time to convince any real fan of that. His tactics, man management and simply everything else where Championship standard at best.

As lovely as Bale would be 100m is a lot when we need strengthening in other areas, especially if DDG goes the other way!
The rumour i heard is they will give us 50 million for De Gea so it's De Gea plus 50 million for bale. No way, De gea saves more than bale would score we need them both.
My summer dealings would be
IN:
De phey
Hummells
Kline
Bale

OUT:
Cleverly
Hernandez
Powell
Evans
50 mil for a player with a year left on his contract ? Real Madrid might like splashing the cash but they aren't that stupid.

The good news is for Man U with the new Adidas contract kicking in I don't think it really matters! De Gea can go for £20mil and you still have plenty for Bale.

DM is unlikely to play again. That was unforgiveably bad. Whatever the reasons, he has been worst than crap for months.
In fairness, although I agree mostly today his performance was very bad, he was at least trying to be assertive - running at people and crossing / shooting on the first realistic opportunity. Compared to most of the rest of the forwards play, which was sideways at best, at least he had the right intentions.

I think a few of the lads played as I expected. Difficult to perform when you know your mates going through hell. Impossible not to be distracted.

Those of us in normal jobs would take a day off. Emotional day at OT.

I'm sure there's something in what you say.
I've been to OT many times when the fixture is closest to the Munich anniversary. Then the minute's silence and whole atmosphere seems to put a damper on the place. Often it's more emotionally charged when we place a local team like Bolton.
I was disappointed to lose three on the trot but am spending the weekend at a family reunion. Four generations. So it does make you feel for Rio and realise what really matters in life.

Totally correct, the safety first play of the rest of the team ,especially on the right where mata and Valencia were utterly woeful, is boring beyond belief,at least di Maria tried to make things happen .
3 teams try to play football against U.S. and we destroy them,3 teams park the bus and we lose all 3 games without scoring a goal,LVG needs to have an alternative formation and style when playing these teams ,and he needs to allow players to take risks.

That's not really his style. He discourages risk-taking, dribbling and switching positions.

Mata played fine, in my view - he was the only one getting between lines and trying to move the ball. Valencia's woeful crossing is a major reason for us losing these kind of games - we have always relief quite heavily on balls in from wide, and he almost never creates chances.

.
I agree.
But surely after two and a half games without penetration or real threat, he should hsve seen the need to change something. Anything!
(Definition of idiocy and all that.)

Instead, 1-0 down with 30 minutes left, so needing to score twice, he sticks to his guns.
Arrogance is a bedfellow of ignorance. He thought he knew best and he was wrong.

More importantly, could Liverpool catch us? I thought that battle was done but if we go on like this we'll give them more than a sniff.

What are the respective run ins?

Liverpool have Chelsea and Stoke away with Palace at home in between.
We have Palace and Hull away with Arsenal at home in between.
Our lead is four points and goal difference so we need five from three. If Liverpool lose one, then two points gets us fourth.
Wm Hill have us 1/10 for fourth.

I wouldn't want us to finish 4th if we can't get 5 points from those 3 games! It would be such an enormous collapse that it would be have to trigger major changes. Not like Utd at all to give up at this stage of the season, but the team looks really flat.

I would like to see some stats for Utd with and without Carrick this season. My impression is that we have had league winning form with him in the side and relegation form without him!

Mata's distribution was really poor, his movement was fine but his delivery was not.he is far more effective with Herrera near him.

Not just this season. Carrick has been the fulcrum of United for the past four seasons.

Carrick is the centre of the team and we simply do not look the same without him.

I wrote at the time that my heart sank when Carrick was announced in the line up against Spurs. Your form took off from that match.

When is he back? Next season we absolutely must find somebody to fill his place when he's not fit, or someone who can play ahead of him who can do the job. Easier said than done of course.

What's funny is I think we could beat Arsenal because they'll come at us more than likely and that's when we seem at our best. Not as optimistic about things now though obviously before our st streak but we should still get at least 4th, anything higher is a big ask.

Agreed, we're going to be hanging on now for 4th place. Our possession is fantastic but utterly pointless if the players are playing so safe that they dare not risk going anywhere near the opponents goal.

Yes, roll on the summer. With all the targets being discussed it seems Louis may get the players to fit into his style of system meaning he may loosen the reins on creativity and next season might be a bit better in terms of teamwork.
