Not the first time in his tenure I've thought finally his philosophy has clicked and we're playing good football. I'm affraid it's too far gone. Will be interesting to see how Woodward responds to the questions tomorrow at the conference.

I agree, I'm LVG'd out...

The recent uplift in form is, to me, due to the fact that LVG has finally been prepared to change the system somewhat, move personnel round and allow more attacking from CM. But it's too little too late. For me the "issues" should have been identified much sooner and he should have changed things instead of maintaining a dogmatic belief that his "philosophy" will prevail. What he vastly understimated in my opinion is that the teams he was lining up against aren't mugs, they have astute managers who know what they are doing and they set out to frustrate United and counter. It's no secret that recently teams that don't have big possession have been getting the results, look at the stats for City v Leicester as an example.

Drawing against Chelsea was a kick in the nuts. We should have seen that game out. He's to blame for changing the team at a time when he shouldn't.

It's not his philosophy that is working - it's anything but ...

Your last few games have been far more open, which he will hate ... even though you've not done too badly. Bringing on Depay though against Chelsea, just why?

I hope he stays next season!

Does the whole Jose and lack of working with Youth not bother you guys??

I am not sure I would like a manager in charge of LFC who never gives the lads a go ...

I have to agree with this. From memory wasn't one of the strengths of you guys under Fergie the youth development?

It's alright saying that, but what are the alternatives given where United want to be?

The ideal manager for us was Carlo Ancelloti Imo. Now though there's no option really but Jose, if we want to go back to winning silverware.

Just seems to be totally against the whole Ethos of UTD for me ? but if short term fix is more important than 1-3 year fix then sure Jose is best option...

It's been suggested that the academy is struggling, I know that City are picking up most of the local talent and importing players from abroad. By all accounts their set up is second to none. This is predominantly to drive income for the club though, not all these players if any will get 1st team action. They'll buy in their 1st team'ers from a pool of the best players in the world.

United will have to have a similar view I think to compete. Although I do think that we'll still bring through players if they are good enough. To say that Mourinho won't spot or allow talent to come through would be wrong, I think it's pretty clear he knows what he's doing and quite why Chelsea let him go is beyond me. That squad were/are always likely to come good at some stage.

Going with the lovely and rosy ethos is great when you're being successful. This post on RedCafe sums it up quite well though. laugh

"For me its like being asked if I want to wear a colostomy bag.

The initial answer is a definite no. But if you think about it, come to terms with the fact you have a serious illness and think about the alternatives, you are likely to conclude that actually you do quite want one after all. Its not something you feel like shouting from the rooftops about, but you are looking forward to being able to go out in public and get back to something like normal.

Mourinho is our colostomy bag."

SAF was once in a lifetime and tbf so were the Class of 92, a perfect storm if you will. We also criminally mismanaged some of our youth under SAF (Pogba for instance)

Regardless if we aren't winning or even in the Top 4 then we become a less attractive club for the youth, as CIE says we need action and whether its leave a bit of a taste in the mouth or not I do suspect we would win things with Jose if he were to come

Who's to say it would be 1-3 years either, he might stay longer, no one could predict anything with him

That's not an honest question. It's easy to see your thoughts between the lines of "God I hope United don't get Mourinho. That would make life even harder for us"

Either way, I still don't want him. Never have, never will as I don't like his style of football. bks to winning if it's going to be done without style. I hated the last few years of SAF and the dull ste grinding out 1-0 wins with a below par team.

If we get him so be it. I stopped going to OT a long time ago and won't be back in this lifetime.

I'm off to Man United v Man City under-21's tomorrow night, I'll have a look and see who's coming through.

Given the amount of money that United have spent on youth, if you exclude the Class of 92 we've had a poor return, other than by selling players in for £3-5m a time to lesser clubs.

Can anyone name 10 players that have played regularly in the first team come through the youth set up in the last decade?

Brown & O'Shea were too long ago

Welbeck, Fletcher (?)

I'm struggling.

Rio is quoted as saying that United risk becoming the next Liverpool.
He may be right but I reckon with Dunderhead and the Double-Glazers, the real risk is becoming the next Leeds.

Mourinho is a winner, plain and simple, I'll take that. Reports that the players are split on his appointment as they are concerned about what will happen with Giggs.
