The defensive stuff is down to LVG not buying a CB or two and a leader in that position.
Is the manager solely responsible for recruitment at United then? Would your opinion of him be different if he had handed the board a list of top defenders and they hadn't managed to recruit any of them?

[devils advocate] he's just setting up the team to the most of a mediocre set of players [/devils advocate]

We never know the full workings of the club, but LVG AND Woody need to take responsibility.

Not sure why you need to take every post by a non-Utd fan as contentious, maybe why Utd fans get the reputation they do.

Anyway, it was a serious question. He seems good at putting a squad together and he's clearly an adept tactician. Obviously not as long-term as Poch, but probably cheaper and I'd argue a much more stable proposition than Jose!

You can pretty well argue what you like, but he's not a viable option for a multitude of reasons. Oh and I'm not even the slightest bit touchy either, although it's nice to know that individually, I represent the whole of the United fanbase globally.

Nailed on for top 4, no?

I'm more likely to be relegated.

If we carry on playing such dull football, we will not win the league (our record so far is terrible, and we are only near the top because everyone else is terrible, too).
The only variable, then, is where we finish between 2nd and 4th. I couldnt care less as between 2nd, 3rd and 4th, so let's take some bloody risks.
We have lost 4 games even playing as we do, so it is not like it could be a step change in terms of points. It may lose us 4 or 5 points over the rest of the season. Nothing.

LVG has proved me comprehensively wrong by taking the 2nd or 3rd best squad in the League and making them a bunch of failures!

The whole top quarter of the Prem should hang its head in shame this season, though. Leicester winning the league? Utd, Arseneal, City and Chelsea have all grossly underperformed.

Just watching City v Spurs and judging by the way these two appear capable of playing, they deserve a bking for not being 20 points clear of our shower of mediocrity this season.
We're streets behind them and we really shouldn't be after the investment post-Fergie. Ed and Louis should both go right now. A good point was made earlier that if they are going with Jose, he may as well start moulding now ready for a better attempt next season. If not Jose, just get rid of them now anyway cos they're adding fk-all to the club.

God I hated Welbeck, was so glad to see the back of him. Scored a lucky goal today but has been injured for most of the season. He's ok but never good enough for us (well, back then anyway!)

Still think we should've kept one more striker either him or preferably Hernandez. We got a good price for Welbeck so was a no brainer in letting him go.

Sure, reality still hasn't really set in yet. I don't even rate them the 2nd team in the Dutch Eredivisie, even confirmed by the CL result.

And it's about time Manu's-Uniteds board, Woodward in particular, made the wider world very clear what's the mid and long term plan. For instance stick with LvG, create stability and stick with the path set in 1 1/2 years ago (incl. development of youngsters) or hope for the better and appoint a new manager.

Becuase the ridiculous weekly media farce and the Boards total radio silence seems all very unprofesional.

Although reality is ofcourse theirs no plan other than survival, the less the board incl. Woodward communicates the more the manager gets the blame.

The silence from the Board is the most professional thing they can do. They are a listed company and no comments should be made other than through the NYSE. In addition what does a vote of confidence add? That's all it can be unless they're announcing they've sacked LVG which looks like it won't happen this side of summer.

They haven't, its just that everything suddenly came together for Leicester and they are just flying at the moment. Sometimes these things just happen. The main teams could have done better but they haven't all been terrible, just not quite on top form. Leicester are just working almost perfectly this season.

The sense of entitlement and bitter resentment on this thread is delicious.
