Serious question:-

Do you reds think United will finish above City next season, bearing in mind both clubs have top new managers and both squads will need drastic rebuilding.

smile
It's a tough one, both squads have seriously underperformed, how much of that is the managers and how much the players is I guess what we'll see. I think Jose knowing the prem might give us the slight edge.

I think it will be as close as this year but maybe each team will be battling for 2nd/3rd rather than 4th/5th

Based on City's performance this year, anything is possible ;-)

There was nothing wrong with Pellegrini & little wrong with the City squad, a few injuries here & there but nothing compared to what some had to deal with.

We've got exciting times ahead with Rashford, Martial, possibly Lingard, Shaw, CBJ and TFM all looking great so far alongside Smalling, De Gea, Herrera. We've also got a roller-coaster looking like coming in the shape of Jose. I'm not his biggest fan as yet but if he gets the best out of the lads and adds a few special players too, then I'm open to conversion.
All that aside though, I feel City have a more experienced and stronger squad at the moment and with Pep, they'll have an intelligent manager who can get them playing to their strengths. The coming season may just be City's but after that, I think it's up for grabs.

Assuming Jose is the new Manager and as previously said, some great managers in the Prem next season, I'm really looking forward to the City and Liverpool games just to name a few.
Sparks will be flying. smile

It's anyone's guess. People go on about City having a better squad but I really don't see it. I think they're evenly matched and there's going to be a lot of ins and outs for both. It's going to be very interesting to watch it play out.

I wonder what the odds are of the EPL fixture-generator throwing up Chelsea v Man U on the first day of the season? smile

I think we will. I think our squad will be far more settled after the rebuild.

GK: De Gea
RB: New
CB: Smalling
CB: New
LB: Shaw
MC: New / Rooney
MC: Schn/Schn/Herrera
AML: Martial
AMC: Mata / Rooney
AMR: Linegaard / Januzaj
STR: New

I think we have enough cover for all other positions so we should go all out to sign four big players. RB is a tough one, I'd love Bellerin but can't see it ever happening, maybe Seamus Coleman? CB I'd go Stones or Varane. CM I would test Spurs resolve for Ali, have a little nibble at Barkley and also see what the deal is with William Carvalho, ideally though I would want a proper box to box player, someone in the mould of Arturo Vidal. STR I think Ibra or Lukaku would be a good choice.

£200m should cover it smile

I'm glad you're not our manager!!! Barkley, Lukaku, Coleman, Stones... None of these are title winning players.

Test Spurs resolve for Alli? He's just signed a new contract and they've just made about £96m from the TV deal alone this season with even more to come next season not to mention Champions League income.

Of His list of potential signings I think Vidal would be good? Not that I could see him leaving Bayern though, so kind of pointless to speculate.

I think there will be one or two of Chelsea, Liverpool, City, United and Arsenal left without the players they need come September. There's not enough going round to fill the gaps in these squads. Most of the names you could think of to fill any of the gaps are also playing in top sides already without much desire to leave.

I dont think our manager is one who goes after 'well known names' tbh, more players performing at a high level at clubs you dont watch - Going purely off his last 2 clubs and the signings he made there...

I would say quite a few of the signings at Madrid & Chelsea were made for him rather than Mourinho picking them himself. At United I would reckon he will get more of a say who is signed.

You're Liverpool right?

Yeah that's true, but the owners may step in? What's the transfer policy at Liverpool?

Contracts mean nothing, like I said, I'd just shake the tree a little bit to see what the reaction is. How we didn't sign him after he tore us apart in the cup I'll never know.

Lukaku would get 30 goals a season with the right supply IMO. His age would also make him a great signing. John Stones could grow into a great player, maybe not next season but I'm pretty sure after a year together he could make a pretty formidable partnership with Smalling. Seamus Coleman, yeah I guess he is a bit weak but other than Bellerin, I can't think of a right back that I'd really fancy. Lets hope Mourinho knows of someone because I don't rate any of our current RB propositions.

Younger guys with potential - Karius, Coutinho, Firmino, (Moreno). Even Suarez was 24 when he signed.

I'm not a huge fan of Lukaku, I think he's overrated. I was always on Mourinho's side when he was loaning him out and sold him at Chelsea. Really not sold on Stones either, I suppose Martinez is nt the best managewr to learn your trade as a centre back though
