I think he will. He was down to 18 months on his deal and there were rumours he was getting a bit frustrated with lack of chances, next thing he's signed a new 4 year deal, so guessing he's had some affirmation of his status at the club.

BBC (and many others) reporting our interest in Ramos and Schweinsteiger: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33224243

There's been a briefing somewhere either from United or other people involved but it smells of contract chasing by Ramos and that swine Bastian to me.

I think we need a like Ramos in our team to harden it up to be honest and Schweinsteiger we all know...

there is nothing coming out of united at all in terms of transfer info, everything reported is made up or taken from another club or agent .

However I would love to see ramos at united,he'd get sent off a fair bit ,but a top defender.

I reckon both are using us for a better contract at their current clubs. No idea who we are getting in this summer but if LVG wants business done before the summer tour then time is running out!

There's more than conjecture to the Schweinsteiger story he was in London at the weekend.....he is definitely in discussions with Man U. That is all I am saying.

I've always wondered how good they (I mean defenders at Barca, Real etc) are as defenders, or if they just look better because of the teams they play for.

I mean they play 19 other teams but against probably 17 of them they aren't really tested that much. I wonder if they'd stand out playing for a mid-table team?

Quite. It is very hard to form an accurate assessment of a defender when he is untroubled in 90% of games. Spanish teams pretty much roll over against Real and Barcelona, so we really have little to go on apart from Champions League games. I have never understood the hype re Ramos - he always strikes me as a solid but unexceptional RB with a bad disciplinary record.

So let me get this right:
You know stuff we don't.
You think.
But you can't tell us.
Except it's about Schweinsteiger.
But that's it, he may come to United.
Or he may not.
Or both: not now but later. Did you know that?
You can tell us that you know stuff you think we don't know but we don't know who you are and you don't know who we are.
But you want us to know that you think you know more than you think we know even though you don't know who we are or what we know.
Y'know.

I can't agree with that at all. Bar a or Real would walk the Prem and teams such as Villareal, Valencia, Seville, Athletico Madrid, Bilbao, Deportivo would all be top 10 contenders. Are you saying Stoke, Swansea, West Ham , Everton etc are better than them.

All I am trying to do is help some people understand that it is not just journalist bullst. If you want to be a dick feel free (you're doing a first class job of being a dick btw). Clearly I could tell you exactly what happened but that would compromise my friend so unfortunately because of people like you who clearly have way too much negative energy I'll leave it at that. That okay with you ? Thanks.

I think you're overstating it slightly - those teams you cite really are pretty much Everton standard. But the bigger point is not the quality of the lesser teams / players but how well they test the big sides.

I find the Spanish league pretty dull because some of those teams (but more the also rans) dont put up much of a fight against the big 2 in individual games. It isn't as hotly competitive at the Prem, and a lot of games are effectively over early on when the smaller side throws in the towel.

I dont think any side would 'walk' the Prem, although I agree that RM and Barca are better than any English side.

Totally agree, just look at the CL and EL results of Atletico and Sevilla...

That's a good point in terms of the level of effort against the top two. When I say that Barca or Real would walk the Prem it's a difficult one. I accept the Prem is played at a high tempo and pretty much every game is hard fought but the teams don't score many goals and I don't think that's because the defending is great, I think it's because they aren't all that when it comes to putting the ball in the net. Which Prem league players would have got in Reals or Barcas Champs League team?

I think the Prem is overrated, the best players aren't in it (they used to be) and the quality is patchy.

It is not OK for you to:
-Call me a dick
-Tell me have negative energy
So no thanks.

Anyone else a bit worried by our lack of signings so far? Like Frank says, proceedings are being kept pretty hush hush this year, so maybe there are lots of irons in the fire that we are not aware of?
