What kind of sign is it when Fellaini is playing so much better than Wooney that he won't pass to him?

Monsieur Pogba seems very settled very quickly.

Edit. and that big Swede seems to be fairly at home too.

Can't believe the difference between us this year. It's exciting to watch and although Pogba is in his first game since the euros, he looks ridiculous. He's exactly what we've missed since Keano!

We just look so much more direct in our play. Ibra and Pogba have made a huge difference

As in ManU's 1st EPL match, Fellaini's sole role is very simple, acquire the ball and hand it over asap to your nearest teammate, preferably the one to your left or right, but most certainly not forward. He's the defensive lock on the door, using his lenght. The back 5 by the way hardly seem to interfere in anything offensive (Shaw sometimes runs forward), even creating a gap between the offence and defence.

Probably works against a very poor, relegation candidate like Bournemouth and a downgraded Southampton.

Watched both games, full lenght.

And Mourinho just swapped Sir Wayne Wooney for a defender.

Some things never change.

Well we are scoring goals, passing the ball forward and not playing defensively until we are comfortably in the lead. That's quite a change from recent times yes

Decent tonight, some good spells and still clearly some things to work on - our right looked vulnerable being the most important I think. Everyone played well, did what they were asked to do. Pogba looks so good on the ball, we have missed that kind of ball carrying movement for so long its great to see it back. We can hope again biggrin.

Fellaini our most improved player so far this season for me. Really pleasantly surprised by him.

Zlatan and Pogba add lenght and strenght. Plus Zlatans goal scoring ability, even if he doesn't really come into play very much.

Mourinho does seems to make the field unnecessary long when ManU is on the offence, keeping his back 5 back. Ball tempo isn't really EPL like as well. You'd expect Valencia and Shaw with their speed comming up from LB and RB, only Shaw does sometimes. But Shaw isn't quite pre-injury Shaw yet (he does seem to have gained some weight).

Two matches, 5 goals, not too shabby, but of which 3 a bit cheap and against relegation candidate No.1 and a downgraded Southampton.

Real test will be against City.

We looked x1000 better than last season. More direct, pace is quicker, presence upfront in Ibra. Pogba looked settled and by the end started to show the player he is. Good in defence apart from a few wobbles but the potential is their. 2-0 and Jose wastes some time by making a sub, nothing wrong with that.

Deltona S - Do you hate Jose? United?

Tonight I thought we looked good, but more than that the potential is there and that can only be a good thing. Excited for potentially a very good season.

Virgil Van Dijk needs to move on from that Southampton team. He's a player that'd easily stoll into a top team.

Everyone signs the rest of the Southampton team and have left him on the sinking ship. Odd.

Yes, for sure. Still early in the season yet though, plenty of time for the shape and balance in the team to be sorted out. Right now its as much about getting the team to gel and get used to each other, with the points as a bonus. For me many promising signs so far.

Speaking of gelling, just watched the post match interview on Sky with Zlatan and Pogba (still can't quite get my head around they both play for us now). It's just encouraging to see them happy (ofc we won, but still).

Link to interview: https://youtu.be/IN-ifnZDEjM

Zlatan "It doesnt matter who gets the goals, only the points matter"
Interview to Pogba "You tried to get the goal towards the end..."
Zlatan "Yeah, but next time he should pass to me" laugh - it was the look on his face as much as anything.

Hope he stays and scores the winner against you at St Mary's. At least you've proven that money can buy you a team

Pog was excellent after a nervous first touch! Tony V, Fella and Blind also very good. And great to see a proper centre forward's goal from Zlatan.

I don't actually support Man Utd. My comments were about the VVD in relation to his performance tonight.

Felt the same way, although apart from Van Dijk I would add Fonte and Tadic to, all aboard a sinking ship.

Southampton seems to lack confidence and some (scoring) ability.
