God, there are some fking idiots on here. Yes Deltona and Selym, I mean you.

I think we played well yesterday and on another day would have won that by 3 or 4. Poor error from De Gea cost us.

I'm not sure what else Mourinho could have done from a managerial point of view. We battered them for the majority of that game.

Can someone enlighten me on where this random adoration for Joe Allen has come from? I don't get it. He still looks crap to me, he just has more hair on his head/face. Is this all because he had a couple of half decent games in Wales' Leicester-esque run to the Euro Semis and now the pundits have decided they like him?
You don't remember Manu being average, do you? Now if Mourinho had managed to set the world on fire but drawn with Stoke, I'm sure the masses would allow that blip to slide. But it hasnt been like that, has it?

I think it's tolerably clear that Utd will never become average, unlike 'Never win a thing' teams like Liverpool and Arsenal.

You were average only last season.

Anyone else think Rooney will be gone by this time next season?

Really? Because it's already been 3.5 years since you won the title and you look like you're at least another season away from winning your next one. And if you're going to say that you won the FA Cup recently, well even Liverpool and Arsenal have picked up the occasional cup trophy in the "never win a thing" years.

Yes, a long, long time ago. And I agree, I don't think it'll be another 20 years before Utd next win a title; mainly because the league is a different beast now and sponsorship deals can keep you in the winning even whilst you're not winning. Liverpool became st in the 90s at absolutely the worst time and took far too long to pick up on the commercial side of football.

However, I'll also say that I think Liverpool look like winning a title sooner than Utd at the moment.

You could be right with your last point. But then again, you're always on the verge of recapturing what is becoming ancient history wink.

I would be surprised if Liverpool win the league this decade. I would be surprised if Utd don't.

Liverpool are playing well but still have a lot of bang average players. I see them as this season's Arsenal - playing good football but without the quality or depth in the squad to challenge. I might be wrong. I am horribly horribly biased!

I think they could easily win the league, klopp is great manager and has them
Playing as a team with a distinct style.they have had a tough opening schedule and done very well and they have no European distractions.
They will run out of huff and puff in some matches , but they are going to be right up there.

Success is becoming a more distant memory by the year, and if you measure success by those past achievements than surely the 5 European Cup/CL wins have Liverpool head and shoulders above Manu in the premier club competition in the world?

Not really, the true pinnacle is winning a real treble. Something Liverpool have never done.

That is a once in a lifetime achievement. No trophy for it though, just bragging rights. Bragging rights from history though.

5 wins over 3 isn't head and shoulders really. 20 times over 18 isn't either. You've got to think though that Liverpool have massively underachieved in the last 10 years winning only a league cup, especially considering they are in the top ten clubs worldwide in terms in terms of revenue.

We got 3 trophies for winning the treble. smile

Not when several of your rivals are also in that top ten, some with more than double the revenue/profit. Then take it account that in those ten years that we had owners that went into bankruptcy and nearly took the club with it.

I'd have thought with the competitions available to them, at least 3 sometimes 4, that they would have done a bit better than 1 league cup. Considering the amount of investment and quality of the personnel available to them also. We've spent loads in that time too but only really since SAF retired. I know you came close to winning the league a few seasons ago when Gerrard tried to make sure you didn't slip up but recent history shows only 1 trophy in that time. That's a poor show I believe.

Oh I agree, though to be fair some of our managers in that time have been interesting, Roy Hodgson anyone?!

Under Klopp now I think we are more of a challenge now even than when we had that super Suarez season.

I think to win things everything has to come together, board, management, players and fans. Leicester anyone?

In this respect Liverpool have fallen short.
