everything important
I am not so sure it was control...a lot of our problems we caused ourselves...dont think I have seen a game this year from us where we made so many unforced errors, we couldnt pass to a bus never mind get round a bus, we were massively off as much as you were strong in defence.... it was boring as hell, glad its over and I look forward to seeing what you can do at OT. jammy-git said:
What aspect of the game did United control exactly?!
The fact you hardlly created anything at home, couldn't ping the ball around, and couldn't score at home against us says something doesn't it? Or was that all down to your ineptitude? You were not able to play your A game, and had no plan B.m3sye said:

Now you know how we felt watching most of our games last year ...just a bump in the road for you guys probably, but interesting to see if it has given other teams a blueprint for how to play at Anfield.m3sye said:

United got into you ,players were closed down and no space given .When you do it its brilliant ,when United do it it's negative and dull according to the media.bstb3 said:

Maybe, but tbh there are not many teams who come to Anfield and play, I would expect City, Arsenal and Spurs too as their managers like to try force a game with the talent of their attacking players, bar that not many else come open...... Difference is not many come and play 6 at the back and have 3 in front, even the likes of relegation fodder...So yeah we ma have to learn to play against that if people follow suit

Defending heavily != control. We controlled the pace, we controlled the ball. You stopped us running into space (because there was none), and you slowed down the game at set pieces, but you never controlled the game.
basically according to what you just said united controlled the ebb and flow of the game,so basically controlled it.You really didnt control anything ,you did what united let you do .m3sye said:

A point away from home in a huge Derby is a good result. Jose knows he has to deliver this season for the fans and if you have to go negative at times then fair play. All that matters is what happens in May not on a Monday night in October at the start of the season.
Why does is bother Liverpool so much....they are a good team but they are competing just like us, City, Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea for the top 4. Would be good if they finally won something for a change

Mourihno does not look or is acting like himself ,there's something wrong with him.
My opinion. he's also settling in. He's being deliberately considered with his words in interview as he wants to cause the club no issues with fallout. I think he wants others to be under the spotlight so he can quietly get on with his rebuilding job. He's calmed down a little since being sacked by Chelsea and having 6 months out to reflect. I think when his team gets its swagger back he will too.I've watched it at Spurs, you can see how Klopp has moved things on at Liverpool and it's no different here.
Klopp and Pochetino have very clear game plans and ideologies (or a philosophy as a certain person called it) suited to the club and players.
Mourinho as well, normally;
Mourinho spend heavily on 4 players, 3 of them well established names. Together with was already there, you'd expect a more steady playing style. Plus given he's now had about 12 to 13 competitive games after 4 or 5 pre-season ones, you'd expect some sort of first 11 too.
What does Mourinho do, he's hovering between either a dominant United playing forward (with Mata for instance on 10 and without Felliani), easily their best matches so far, in which they've got the best out of the not very mobile Ibrahimovic as well. And a very conservative United, with Felliani as CDM. With yesterday as the low point, hardly a chance, just 35% possession and a draw after two world class saves by DeGea.
The latter may well be understandable against for instance Barcelona or Bayern, but not against Liverpool or previously against lesser opponents. ManU is currently 7th in the leaque after 8 games of which 4 relatively easy openers. With games against Chelsea and Arsenal in the next 4 matches I wonder if they'll still be near the CL spots by then.

You need to look at the bigger picture. You guys are in form, beating top teams. We are still building, had a few poor games before the break and a loss last night would have heaped huge pressure on the team and Jose. We set-up out to stop Liverpool playing, shut down the space and not lose. Boring? Yes. Effective? Yes. Liverpool had no plan B? Yes.

Please go and wash your mouth out and say 1000 Hail Marys. Totally uncalled for, especially just after lunch.A point away from home in a huge Derby is a good result. Still a work in progress and still need a few more windows to axe some dross from the squad. Times have changed from SAF days, and we are just like any other club in the top 6 fighting for the title and champions league.
