Did Paco ever express any interest in being an assistant again? Would seem odd for him to take a backward step. Same with Rene - he's been a manager at a couple of clubs now, you'd think his assistant days are behind him.
Last I saw was that Paco wasn't interested in being a number two again (as it were). But then there have been rumblings that Paco should be BR's deputy.London424 said:

If he's going to come up short its not looking like he'll have one single excuse. After this window he'll have spent over 200 million in the time he's been here.
I thought he was already well on his way to/past 250?Lovren, Lallana, Clyne, Milner, Ings, the young lad from Charlton are all familiar enough to him. And he has his own new number 2 again.
Crikey. I hope the negativity on here is not catching. In any enterprise, the person making the key decisions choose their support staff.
I suppose if we'd got in somebody more experienced and well known, used to winning things etc some of the critics on here would have said it was really weak of Rodgers and a sign he needed help yada yada yada.

Yup! I think we should just wait and see. I suppose if we'd got in somebody more experienced and well known, used to winning things etc some of the critics on here would have said it was really weak of Rodgers and a sign he needed help yada yada yada.

Or that he is just a "yes man"I suppose if we'd got in somebody more experienced and well known, used to winning things etc some of the critics on here would have said it was really weak of Rodgers and a sign he needed help yada yada yada.
Anyway - people are just getting ducks in a row for when the season starts and the countdown to when FSG will pull the plug starts again. For the nth+1 time.

So we agree that he's been backed to the hilt and he's got his preferred number 2 in. He's the master of his own destiny, that'll do for me.
We could agree that you accept that you have been wrong with every call so far regarding FSG and Rodgers. Then we can take it from there. But I don't want to argue on such a nice day so we could just leave it.

As for my call on FSG retaining Mr Rodgers, my opinion is that they've done it because the manager they want isn't available yet and that he'd cost a lot to sack. I don't think sucessful business men like FSG really still believe that Mr Rodgers is capable of top 4.

We know. Successful has two "c"s btw. But seriously - we know your opinion of "Mr Rodgers". Let's just see what the summer brings, try and focus on the positive and see what the new season brings.jammy_basturd said:
We've also apparently signed this "wonderkid" from Barcelona due to their transfer ban: http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/foot...
Well, he hasn't 'signed' just yet. But if he does join, let's hope he doesn't turn out to be another Gerardo... anyone remember him? No not Stevie but Gerardo Bruna. Hailed as the next Messi, schooled at Real Madrid, turned down a professional contract with them to join Liverpool at 16 and now at just 24, plays for the illustrious Accrington Stanley!type-r said:

One thing Bruna did win with was his GF. HOT.jammy_basturd said:

I see Gerrard has spoken out.
Care to share?Says being left out against Real hastened his exit.
Says we were too gung ho against Chelsea at home last season. Lack of experience blamed. Not sure I agree. We didn't have the personnel to play defensively. And if we'd have played defensively Gerrard shouldn't have been on the pitch.
As we are reminiscing ever wonder what happened to "The Gems"?
I've just looked
Le Tallec is playing for the B side of a Lique 2 team in France
Sinama-Pongolle is playing in the Swiss second tier
I remember when we signed them thinking we'd signed the next big things with Houllier saying every big club in Europe was after them!
Both Illori and Augustinsson played well tonight. Illori looked solid and looks like he is ready to step up. I would question his aerial ability to defend corners / free kicks but he is still young at 22. Augustinsson looked fairly accomplished at left back - if we are in for him, could definitely be decent cover for Moreno. Looks good going forward too.
