I really hope we don't sign Benteke. With Rodgers playing his preferred style of play, I just can't see where he fits into this team and for the money he would cost, I think we could invest it better. Also I'm not one to judge on one game only, but he was woeful against Arsenal in the FA Cup.

Just my 2 pennies worth and happy to be proved wrong.

I really hope not, all I can see is another Andy Carroll.
This, sadly.

good news that, i think he will be a big massive improvement over Johnson
Absolutely yes If Flanagan can keep fit & healthy thats the next 4 to 6+ years sorted for the RB position.

Would really like to see more youth talent come through this year.

Stoke have agreed a £12m fee with Inter for Xherdan Shaqiri. Oh my, he turned down the Reds to move to Inter from Bayern and now Stoke?!

Great signing very happy with that - a major problem position for us last year

Well done LFC

Oi steady! Southampton's not a bad place!

They want our players, they want our fans (Ings) and they want our cruise ships. Imitation is the nicest form of flattery I guess.

I can't see him agreeing to leave for Stoke tbh.

Do you have 30 million to buy Kelvin Davies from Southampton as I don't think you've had a keeper from us yet?

I'm a little unclear why the prior Southampton players have not made a big impact at Liverpool.
- Are they not good enough and were poor buys?
- Can they not adapt to a "bigish" club
- Is it the northern air?
- Is the person who does medicals for Liverpool really a Southampton fan and sabotages the player?

Big season for Lovren - looked a shadow of the player for us as he did for you - does the pressure of expectation get to players more than we think or is he not that good ? this season we shall find out

lambert - not that arsed about

Lallana - I expect more from him this season with a pre season behind him and bedded in - he will have his work cut out though to get in the team -

Clyne - I think is a very good signing , what do you think? how do you rate him in terms of other prem right backs?

If you want Lovren to be good you'll need to buy Schniderlin and Big Vic too. Yours for £60m Brenda.

Would have liked to have seen him at Liverpool, but glad we've got Firmino now.

I think Clyne is a great right back and can only get better. He needs to learn how to cross the ball better, but his defensive work is pretty good. I think he is the best in the country at the minute and he will shine for you. He's one of the best players I've seen in that position in years but needs to cover back a little better at times

Lallana - I wonder if the move has put more pressure on him and he's coping. The media pressure is different and the expectation is more. There was not much to choose between Saints and Liverpool last season, but I think he would have coped better at Southampton.

Lovren - Think you chose the wrong centre back. One good season and then has looked nervy since he went to Liverpool

Schneiderlin would be the most sensible buy for United in a long time. He's the one that the bigger clubs would be after, can't see him going to Liverpool. Us or Arsenal probably.

Schneiderlin is a cracking player and I think will be level headed to hold his own. He really has quality and I think whoever gets him will be very pleased

I think the thing with Lovren is that the system/tactics that Southampton employ flatter him slightly. I think he's a good defender though and could be very good again. Just that the system that Liverpool employ makes nearly all defenders look nervy and generally awful.

Think about it. BR wants defenders to be comfortable in possession, under pressure from the opposition, good at passing. If defenders had all these abilities they wouldn't be defenders, they'd be midfielders.

I think this is a very good point, and on reflection we are probably overly critical of our defenders considering the way we play.

You reply may (or may not) have been tongue in cheek, but it does make me laugh when people use Barcelona as an example. When you have the worlds best footballers playing for you, you can get away with tactics that no other club in the world can.
