Of course I'm pleased that we're attracting talent and have a much stronger squad.
By the virtue of this very statement our transfer policy isn't as bizarre as you would allude to.

We're doing very well transfer wise pre season and for that we should feel positive, thankful and optimistic.

Let's get that one very good striker and hopefully a central defender and that'd be great.

Moneyball as a concept is what exactly?
Finding players that the market has undervalued and using them push for success. Often, but not limited to, using analysis and metrics to identify said players.

The main thing FSG want to do is buy players with re sale value - so get them at a young age so if they are either A) not performing there is still value left in them due to their age or B) sell a player who wants to leave at a much higher value than you bought them for.

I dont see FSG as owners who push the sales of top players who want to stay - they understand when a player wants to go more often than not he has to leave but at the same time they will try get the highest fee possible. I certainly dont ever see them pushing to sell PC just because his value has risen a lot.

Exactly, and in terms of business, there isn't much difference in having a £50m player on your books or £50m in cash. Just depends on whether you need the liquidity. And since it seems FSG have plenty of cash, I think they'd prefer to have the value within the squad and club, where it matters.

This part is BS - Spurs did this solely and knowingly that Ings wanted to go to Liverpool, therefore skew the tribunal fee unfairly, allegedly of course.
I suspect you are right to a degree (I think maybe they had an interest and wanted to see if his head could be turned but also knew what the impact could be to yourselves even if they weren't successful)

Its one of those funny situations, to me as a Utd fan I think its hilarious and a funny move by Spurs to stitch you guys up a bit and I am sure were the situations reversed you would feel the same, but yeah if they had done it to us I would be pissed.

Dont think there is many LFC fans that would not cash in on Sterling for 50m -if used correctly the money would without doubt strengthen our first team - if he was winning us games week after week and being the main player then maybe not but he wasn't so cash in - especially with him wanting to leave.
Ask LFC fans if they would sell PC for 40m I dont think many would say yes if any at all.

I agree and I actually had Coutinho in mind when I said £50m. The thing with Sterling is that he's actually a £30-35m player that we're willing to let go for £50m! As you say, I don't think any LFC would grumble at that sort of cash for him!

Dont think any club out there thinks he is worth 50m but they know if they want him that is what he has to pay ... English tag is rising his fee by a lot especially as City need quality English players. We hold the Aces on this one

I don't find it funny/hypocritical that we're holding out for our high valuation for Sterling, but are refusing to meet Villa's valuation for Benteke!

City may well be doing the same as us if the Beneteke rumours are true - no further rumours on an increased bid for Sterling. Just depends who gets more desperate/ can get other options. I'm not even 100% sure City will pay 50M for him, so we could end up with him playing for us next season, confusing the midfield team choice even more!

Will be interesting to see if Liverpool send Sterling on the Far East / Australia pre-season tour.

im 99% sure they will unless a deal is agreed - showing your arm by not sending him will only de-value him

I know hehe I was searching gumtree for nothing in particular and that popped up. Probably the most expensive thing on Gumtree in Liverpool at £6000.

So it seems that Delle Alli rejected Liverpool move, despite the Reds agreeing a £3.5m fee with MK Dons. Shame really, as I think he has got bags of potential. Good though to see Liverpool were actually in for him, as I had previously slated them over Christmas for not making a move.

He turned us down way before Spurs as he wanted to stay there. ..we then didn't go back in for him
