Brendan also. "You are confident you know best – but you’ve not quite proven yourself at the very highest level yet"

Brendan, is that you?
Sometimes ruthless, sometimes democratic, you can make the tough decisions , even if occasionally you get them wrong. You are confident you know best – but you’ve not quite proven yourself at the very highest level yet.
Got exactly the same, 73 -100 Sometimes ruthless, sometimes democratic, you can make the tough decisions , even if occasionally you get them wrong. You are confident you know best – but you’ve not quite proven yourself at the very highest level yet.

Comparing Lambert, an honest but limited striker at the end of his career, is not the same as a genuine Italian international. Just look at the record Mario came to us with in his previous season.I think that bar perhaps Coutinho and a hot and cold Sterling, the entire team failed last season. Of the players we brought in I thought Lazer and Lovren were far far worse and have shown even less than Mario.
I don't think Mr Rodgers ever wanted Mario and the outcome of the way he tried to play him and it failing, at the very least, is a reflection on both of them.

Quite. Just look at it. I'm guessing you've not RT, otherwise you wouldn't be advocating such a thing in favour of Balotelli.Whilst with AC Milan, in a team set up to get the best out of him, Mario scored just 12 outfield goals in the space of one and a half seasons.
I would hate for Brendan to have changed our whole squads philosophy just to try and get the best out of a striker with such incredible stats. He was the wrong signing 12 months ago and still is 12 months later.

I was going to reply to this, but think it's summed up best below. Rodgers showed he is willing to set his team up behind a incredible talent to get the best of him. However Balo is absolutely not a Suarez, and so to set your team up behind a 8 goal a season striker would be madness (we had Gerrard to take free kicks so ignore his goals from those).jammy_basturd said:

I don't think playing with 2 strikers is such an issue. Our successful season previously was playing 2 strikers.
I hope he stays. I'm not convinced Benteke can play as a lone forward nor that Sturridge can be relied on. Ings and Origi are nothing more than squad fillers to be used as bit part players to ease over playing our 1st choice forwards.
Mario scored 14 league goals in 30 games the season before he came to us. Those are the stats. Trying to present them as something else is bizarre.
If he goes he goes. If he stays I hope he gets a genuine chance to play in a front 2.

It is bizarre, but if anyone is guilty of mis-representing the stats it is you. You've taken just his league goals for one season as it make him look better than he is. From the stats you present you may think he's a 1 goal every 2 games striker, which is the same as Benteke's record. The reality is he isn't.I'd prefer Ings as backup. Seems to be much more hungry for the ball, much more potential, suits our style perfectly. He's just not as fashionable as he has a lower FIFA score!
We disagree. That's fine. You're the one that introduced the stats so I just looked at his league record the season before he joined us.
I'm comfortable in my position that Mario is a very good striker and what we saw last season is well below his level.
I've seen Ings play, particularly since the rumours mid season that we were in for him. I think he'll be the new Borini. Hard working but in the end lacks the quality we need to break in to the top 4. I don't think we'd have bought him if he was still in contract.
All said and done, of the strikers we have left, I'd rather we get rid of Borini first and wish Lambert well.

You're the person always complaining about buying one season wonders! Look at his record before that. He's not a one in two striker unless he is taking free kicks. When we had Gerrard he wasn't going to be doing that.I'm comfortable in my position that Mario is a very good striker and what we saw last season is well below his level.

Good summary about him below. His discipline improved a lot, but he was still slowing down the team whenever he got the ball, and made a few defensive mistakes too. Not a player to build our team around. You're effectively arguing for the transfer committee - sorry, computer says he's a great striker because of last season's goals! Buy buy buy!

Or penalties. He has an amazing penalty record. But the flip side is that penalties make up exactly half of 28 goal haul whilst at AC!RedTrident said:
Glen. How you been? What'd you reckon about the coming season? Clyne, Milner, Firminho, Benteke
I'm good thanks Raja, you?I think we might struggle this season again. Not convinced our midfield is strong enough or our defence.
We need to start well and watching our pre season games, I'm not inspired. This one tonight is another one that's hard to watch!
Think we've bought well on the whole, but they need to gel quickly on the pitch.
Also I hope we have a decent free kick taker this season and Heno is going to automatically take them just because he's captain.
