There's a handful writing off Utd here, I wouldn't to be honest. Nailed on top 4 for them as with City, Chelsea and Arsenal like I said.
I still can't believe that people think we would be the ones waiting to capitalise on another teams failure, have you seen the way we can fk it up season after season!
We will have another frustrating season of strange line ups, tactics and players out of position.
5th if we have a bloody good season IMO.
If anyone hadn't noticed, I am not optimistic.
City looked terrible in pre-season - looked ordinary against Madrid. They have replaced Dzeko with Sterling as a striker (lol) and still look vulnerable defensively. United haven't resolved their central defence issues nor replaced Van Persie or Falcao. Long way to go in the transfer window but right now, these teams still have some work to do. Right now, I wouldn't count out a top 4 finish.I still can't believe that people think we would be the ones waiting to capitalise on another teams failure, have you seen the way we can fk it up season after season!

Well I hope you are right and I am wrong! One last foray in to the market? From BBC gossip:
The Reds have been cleared to complete the signing of Alexandre Lacazette, 24, after Lyon reportedly told the striker he can leave. (L'Equipe)

If Citeh are really daft enough to play Sterling as a striker this season, they are doomed.Flip Martian said:

Not quiteIf they play him up there he won't be there main man like he had to be for us a few times..aguero or Bony would and he would play off them which he will do very well.

It could be the opposite of last season! Instead of Sterling on his own who can't hit the goal we could have Benteke, Lacazette and Sturridge up front! Lot of potential for goals in that. If we do get him there's only one strategy we can play (probably even if we don't) - one or five more goals than they score against us!The Reds have been cleared to complete the signing of Alexandre Lacazette, 24, after Lyon reportedly told the striker he can leave. There hasn't been many new players who would really improve the team.
Sorry but this is nonsenseLast season we had to play Rooney in midfield and Valencia at RB
We've now got Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger as midfield options and what looks to be a very talented RB. We've also signed the top scorer in the Dutch league who looks to be a special talent and the Argentinian national GK.
As for replacing Falcao, he needed replacing?

New keeper - don't think you can improve much on last season - De Gea was very good and often the player who kept you in games from what I read. So he is more of a backup in case De Gea moves to Madrid.Schweinsteiger is a big injury risk with the last 3 seasons he's had. Good player if he can avoid that - but you can say the same about Sturridge but it didn't help us last season.
Schneiderlin should be very good provided he settles/ gets played right.
Depay could be an excellent buy, but have to see if he steps up.
I guess I understated the new players you have, but it does seem to be a pretty quiet window considering the buying power you, City and Chelsea have.

There's another 25 days to go & The big boys with the big cheque books would be really stupid if they just went out & spent willy nilly for the sake of a couple of games.Schweinsteiger is a big injury risk with the last 3 seasons he's had. The smaller teams that want to offload will panic & the big teams will get their targets at a much keener price.
You have also forgotten Utd have signed Matteo Darmian who looks an excellent player , I'm struggling to see how many of you on here think that Utd haven't strengthened , i think they have done by far the best business of the summer so far.

We'd definitely keep DDG if we could but its out of our hands really.Schweinsteiger is a big injury risk with the last 3 seasons he's had. Good player if he can avoid that - but you can say the same about Sturridge but it didn't help us last season.

Interestingly we've both bought very similarly.
Young promising RB
Young promising winger
Slightly older midfielder
You're a striker ahead of us at the moment
Defence is interesting, an area of concern for both teams yet neither has bought a CB yet.

Problem is having the right players accessible without paying excess fees. I think City haven't addressed their main failings. Yes Sterling will help them break down sides, but their biggest failing was against other top teams, and a wide open midfield. Yaya needs replacing, and they haven't done that.Utd have added well, I think Depay will be a player. But like use still have a poor defence, and if De Gea goes that is a major blow. Plus they still need a striker. Centre of midfield will be much stronger this year so i guess may hide some of the problems in defence.
Chelsea i guess just plan to add Stone as a long term JT replacement.
Benteke has to get 20 goals this season for me. Any return from Sturridge is a bonus.
I think Milner will show us all why we made a mistake the last 2 seasons trying to play Gerrard in some quarter back role. He'll bring experience, leadership and consistency. I had doubts that he could just slot in to a position that he hasn't played in for a long time but it seems he'll do well in centre midfield.
I hope Ibe will emerge as a genuine first team player and score 10 goals whilst creating 10 more.
My anxiety remians
- the centre of defence
- whether our midfield is defensively strong enough
- how we plan to get the most out of our attacking talent with possibly at least 3 players suiting the no 10 role.
It's a building season for me, one where we develop as a team and develop a style of play that we can use to push on next season.
