It might be hard to believe, but we've actually turned a profit on him! Bought him for ~£9m.
Major result, how the hell did we do that...! lol
Bloody annoying he didn't go for the £17m Sunderland offered a year ago

Ilori could be heading to Sunderland on loan. Wouldn't it be ironic if Coates and Ilori form the central defensive partnership at Sunderland AND manage to perform better than Lovren & Co.

Surely after all this time since we bought him its better to give him a go in a game at some point. League cup even. Rather than another loan...

They do say that you shouldn't sell to you're direct rivals.

He will get more game time with a loan elsewhere. Which is exactly what he needs right now at his age. Could be make or break for him in terms of his Liverpool future.

Yeah but he was on loan last season. How many seasons does a player need to be out on loan? Why BUY a player only to loan him out for 2 or more years? 1 season, I can see that. But after that, surely you should be thinking of integrating him in the squad, our training sessions...

I guess there are financial motivations too. Not only a loan fee and wages but more importantly maintaining a transfer value for him. If he does just OK, Liverpool may look to move him on and if he plays regularly they will see most of that £7m return if not more. Of course, you want him to blossom and succeed and it would be hard for him to get regular game time with us given the 'quality' that is front of him. Once Toure leaves next season, there will a spot in the squad up for grabs.

Type-R - totally take that point, yep.

This is good news - I hope he gets a chance. We're not exactly overwhelmed with great performances in that area.

Kane did loans at Leyton Orient, Milwall, Norwich and Leicester before he finally made it at Spurs. I think sending players out to get experience is the right thing to do, but at some point they need to be thrown in at the deep end at the home club to see if they can swim.

Sunderland have now switched their left-back targets and inquired about the possible availability of Jose Enrique. #lfc (Sunderland Echo)

As it stands Joao Carlos Teixeira not going out on loan today. Hope he stays put and gets a chance in EL/League Cup games. (james pearce)
Defender Tiago Ilori, who didn't fancy Sunderland, is now considering a loan move to Aston Villa. #LFC (james pearce)

If it is to happen, they better get a move on. 2 hours to go.

Constant stream of disinformation. Ilori is off on loan - then he isn't, and LFC are saying he's not going anywhere...and then...he might be again!

I guess the only definite is we're not buying anyone...

Every goal by West Ham was due to defensive error, the back 4 not communicating, players moving out of position and leaving their mark and finally simple crapness. It wasn't the midfields fault.

I'm not Sakhos biggest fan as I'm not yet convinced he has an authority but I fear for Lovrens mental toughness. Perhaps he would be a better link with Skrtel.

I must say I do thing the back 4 need game time together as they certainly didn't look familiar. That would be a start.
I think Sakho at least gives you pace in the back, and a physical presence. I just don't see what Lovern brings, he makes too many mistakes, he isn't a ball playing centre half, neither is he a rough and tough CB.

As other have said we were lucky the 1st three games, but margins in sport are fine.

BR needs to quickly work out a good system to get the best out of these players. He has little choice but to stick with that back 4, or play Sakho (I would, he was excellent against Utd at Anfield last year)

Midfield and attack is a mess at the moment.

Looking at all this last minute horse trading, I am so glad that Rodgers / Liverpool did their recruiting early. Seeing the Berahino / Spurs situation, the David De Gea situation, Chelsea desperately trying to sign a defender... at least we can sit back and relax.

Been a strange window really for us.

Full back was a priority signing and bought a centre back eho he seems to be doing OK so far at left back. So we've ended up with 2 new full backs.

Gerrard retires and we've brought in Milner for centre midfield, a position he hasn't played in for years. Time will tell there I suppose. Key was how we needed a dynamic defensive midfielder, didn't buy one.

Bought an attacking midfielder in Firmino who let's face it is a variation on Coutinho and Lallana if he was any good. Lost Sterling and loaned Lazer, so now we have no real proven wide players at the club but 3 no 10s. Ibe, a prospect is now the go to option here for a wide player with pace.

Striker merry go round with Mario, Lambert and Borini out. Benteke, Ings and Origi in. Seem to have set up the season to play one up front. Benteke whilst a hard worker in comparison to Mario, is unfortunately looking just as ineffective. Sturridge remains our most likely option if and when he is fit.

Are we any better? I'd have wanted a proper central midfielder and rather one Berahino instead of an Ings and Origi.

Full backs should be better though you never know with the way Mr Rodgers sets up a defence.

Berahino would have cost double or triple what Ings and Origi combined cost.
