From BBC Sport, Phil McNulty:

Liverpool have submitted a 'Premier League deal sheet' regarding the potential transfer of 22-year-old Portuguese defender Tiago Ilori to Aston Villa.

"This has been accepted from the Premier League and means they now have until 20:00 to complete the paper work on this transfer. If it is completed it will be a season long loan.

"There is a significant loan fee for this - and a clause that would allow Aston Villa to make it permanent at the end of the transfer."

I think he would have cost up to around 25 million pounds. Don't think he would be triple. That's 50 million.

I also think the chances of landing an English player from West Brom is achievable. If we wanted him we could have got him. I think he's a very good player.

I agree, I think he could be a very good play. My preference would have been Ings and Berahino!

Shame about Ilori, honestly thought we were going to give him a shot this season.

Shame about Ilori. Where did that statement that LFC were going to involve him this year come from? I guess if they're happy for him to go to Villa they can't rate him...

As for Enrique. This year's Borini?

Ilori is confirmed for the Villa loan. We're getting a £1m loan fee for him. Will be interesting to see how he performs in the PL.

Doesn't look like anyone came in for Enrique during the entire window.

I'd be pissed if there's an option to buy at the end. Loan in the premier league is excellent, but if he develops and performs well why would we want to sell him? Bizarre and surely not worth a million pounds income after how much we paid for him.

I understand from reports there is an option to buy at the end of the season (for £6-9m, 1 report said - which may have been rubbish). For us to get a million up front on a loan, I would imagine that a right to buy clause would be part of the deal.

Been a strange window really for us.

Full back was a priority signing and bought a centre back eho he seems to be doing OK so far at left back. So we've ended up with 2 new full backs.

Gerrard retires and we've brought in Milner for centre midfield, a position he hasn't played in for years. Time will tell there I suppose. Key was how we needed a dynamic defensive midfielder, didn't buy one.

Bought an attacking midfielder in Firmino who let's face it is a variation on Coutinho and Lallana if he was any good. Lost Sterling and loaned Lazer, so now we have no real proven wide players at the club but 3 no 10s. Ibe, a prospect is now the go to option here for a wide player with pace.

Striker merry go round with Mario, Lambert and Borini out. Benteke, Ings and Origi in. Seem to have set up the season to play one up front. Benteke whilst a hard worker in comparison to Mario, is unfortunately looking just as ineffective. Sturridge remains our most likely option if and when he is fit.

Are we any better? I'd have wanted a proper central midfielder and rather one Berahino instead of an Ings and Origi.

Full backs should be better though you never know with the way Mr Rodgers sets up a defence.
This post genuinally depresses me.. Not having a go at you RT but it really is a depressing negative outlook on our team.. Scanning across all the other 'top 4 teams is equally depressing for their fans also.. Bar Man City, There seems to be unrest at Man U.. Chelsea.. Arsenal about signings (or lack of them) Overall I think we have bought wisely.. Whether or not they will gel / be played in their best positions / deliver the goods, remains to be seen, But I always like to start the season with a positive attitude and allow the team to make just the one fk up before xmas, lol.

Call it as I see it. I'm pleased with one full back and the other lad even though everyone thought he was a centre back who'd go on loan has started at left back and looked no worse than anyone else we've played there and better than others.

I think Milner on his own isn't enough in our centre midfield. I'm a Lucas fan, but I'd have liked to have seen a more dynamic defensive midfielder brought in, particularly with our defensive frailties. Someone that can effectively screen the back 4.

I'm sure Firmino is very good player. But he only works in a front 3 or as a no10 behind a lone striker (where he competes with Coutinho and Lallana for the same position) or alongside Coutinho/Lallana as in the West Ham game. Maybe we'll see that front 3 when Sturridge is back and until then I don't think we've replaced the pace and directness of Sterling - do you?

Ings and Origi, who knows. For me it'd have been one of them not both and the other striker be proven to score goals at this level. I've said Berahino and I'm sure we could have got him if we'd wanted. I think he'd have been able to also fill in for Sturridge's regular injuries. Benteke is a different type of striker and one we learn to hopefully make the most of.

The difference between us and Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea is that they've pretty much finished in the top 4 every season. We've made it there once in the last 6 or 7. I'm still positive by the way, my aspiration for this seasons has been about seeing us develop a style of play. I'd rather lose 6 in a row and see the manager stick with an approach (different to the same formation by the way) and a style emerge over time that we can build on. I've seen enough already where if I was a betting man I'd bet there's no way we'd get top 4, regardless of how bad Arsenal, Chelsea or Utd play.

Fair enough.. Hopefully Firminio can more than replace Sterling ( And maybe find the net, unlike Sterling).. I think Schnerdalin would have been a fantastic buy if we could have beaten Man U to him, and would have solved our defensive midfield woes, However we are much better equipped than last season, now its up to the team and manager to deliver, I have a strange feeling that Ings could be a fantastic player for us if he is given half a chance.

I still think we need to play to our strengths, defence is not one of them! So play a second striker alongside Benteke & win 4-3 instead of losing 3-0 or scraping a 1-0 win....

I think we've seen the outcome of BR getting rid mostly of the purchases he didn't want last summer - 13 of 24 have left I understand.

We're currently 10th in the Prem League in net spend terms with a net spend of £21m which is behind Bournemouth in 9th.

Personally I think we've done bloody well and are stronger for only a £21m net spend.

Good financial management and I don't think we'd be seeing the questioning tones of we hadn't got tonked by WHU. I think it needs a few more months before we can work out if the summer transfers and exits worked out.

Would Berahino really come to us if we had Sturridge, Benteke and Ings ? I think Ings wqill surpise a lot of this people when he gets his chance, and his chance might just come against UTD in the next game...

Yep, I want to see 20+ shots on target and when it goes right, big scorelines in our favour.

We only had one shot on target at home last game. 20+ shots is dreaming BIG!

"He certainly mustn’t remember the halcyon days of December 2010, when Liverpool took on the mighty FC Utrecht with a front three of Milan Jovanovic, Ryan Babel and Nathan Eccleston, and had Joe Cole and Christian Poulsen supplying the ammunition.

Unsurprisingly, that game finished 0-0."

I must say I'm completely baffled as to why people are upset and moaning about not buying Berahino given his Twitter outburst the other day.

I thought with Sterling leaving the way he did and all the name calling that followed with comments like 'he's overated', 'not worth 50m', 'spoilt brat' etc. you wouldn't want to sign someone who has acted even worse and states he will never play for a team again because they rejected his transfer request! He even shared the same agent as Sterling for goodness sake! It seems to me some of you think it's okay for a player to act like a complete moron when they play for a 'lesser' team and we're linked with them, but when it comes to Liverpool this behavior is deemed unacceptable.

I'm of the opinion of Berahino has shown a complete lack of respect for a club who he has been with since 2004(!), progressed through their youth program and was then given a chance at the top level after some loan spells. Their trust and belief obviously paid off, for him then to turn round to them and say he will never play for them again because they rejected his transfer request. Now are you telling me this is the sort of player we want at LFC? It's like he would just try and use us as a stepping stone until a club came in with an offer of more money and he'd be gone.

Also on another matter entirely, I keep seeing comments about Benteke being a poor signing and as useful as Balotelli. Now forgive me if I'm wrong but haven't we only played 4 games so far this season. For crying out load give the guy a chance ffs! I'm not saying the signing will 100% work out, but this is a player who averaged 1 goal every 2 games at a frankly poor Aston Villa, obviously he's got something about him so lets not start laying into him after 4 games.

I must admit I'm a Liverpool fan who doesn't really post much on here, but does skim read it and some of you really need to look at what you write, as your opinions literally contradict what you have wrote a few weeks back. Also I actually think some of you want us to do badly so you can have a moan and say 'told you that would happen' etc.

This (what has turned into a) mini rant isn't aimed at anyone in particular, but it always so negative in here. It's like we play well and nothing gets said, 1 bad result and there's pages and pages of sack Rodgers, Lovren's not good enough, we need a proper DM and taking everything out of context.

For goodness sake get behind the team and actually show support.

1. Well said, I agree with you.

2. Get used to it on here. It can be a strange place sometimes.
