Got it from a good source that they are interviewing Klopp tomorrow.

If you had won today do you lot think he would still be in a job? Odd timing, spent loads in the summer and only 8 matches in, why didn't FSG sack him after the Stoke hammering in May?

Well if this is true it shows the owners to be even more inept. I was a Rodgers supporter. If they wanted him out, they should have got shot in the summer and given a new manager the budget and preseason. Our start has not been great, but not been a disaster. So they are sacking him presumably on the back of last season's disappointing finish.

Please don't tell me they haven't even lined up the replacement? What if Klopp, Ancelotti etc are approached now and tell us to jog on?

I think they have someone lined up and all ready to go

I actually quite liked the formation we played today, just not with Can anywhere near the defence

Interesting timing with us only 3 points away from target.

I doubt anything will change, no matter who we get in.

Ironically Rodgers would not have been sacked if we had been beaten in the derby today.... New team in is Jurgen Klopp and Zeljko Buvac as his number 2 apparently.

FSG are clueless when it comes to football. Of course they should have sacked him in the summer instead of thinking the kit man and the bloke who puts out the cones were to blame.

This team of players, under a proven manager, is much better than our last 30 games suggest. Whilst I was not a fan of Mr Rodgers, I personally think that the players turned on him when he played a B team at Madrid last season.

We need to play 442 diamond or a 3412. The problem is that we have too many players in the same position or not enough players to pull off either formation properly. Take today with the 3412 formation, Moreno suits it, Clyne does not.

If we're to play 3412 then we should go with

Gomez Skrtel Sakho
Milner Lucas Can Moreno
Coutinho
Sturridge Ings

And the problem with that is that it just shows how clueless we've been in the transfer window. Firmino and Lallana are competing with Coutinho for 1 position. The centre midfield (even with Henderson back) isn't good enough. Milner as a wing back... and most of all where will the goals come from when Sturridge is injured?

The manager has gone, now the committee needs to go also imo.

I think its all planned in advance to a certain extent, with a 2 week international break its the ideal time to make the change, yes ideally should have been done in the summer, but I dont think Klopp or Ancelloti would have wanted the job then, perhaps they wanted break before going back at the deep end.

who knows? exciting times ahead.

Yes and no. He's been got rid of because he is doing the same thing that resulted in such a poor season last year. Messing around with formations and players in a random fashion. He has previously mentioned about not having the time to get the team how he wants due to so many games during the week. The summer and new players gave him that chance. We have now seen it has not improved and so he didn't use it. Why would it get better from now to the end of the season? Surely better to start now rather than just faffing around for a season hoping he will suddenly change.

I said in the summer that if he can't get a tune out of this squad it's time to go.

The biggest mistake he made was changing the formation all the time, and playing people way out of position.

Let people compete for positions and play the right formation and players.

Contractually it would have cost the club big £££ to sack him in the summer. That is not the case now which is why he has gone. FSG are not stupid where £ is concerned.

Sacking now seems an odd timing. Souness and Carragher both looked like they were rolling their eyes/couldn't believe it when it was announced earlier. I can't believe they;'ve done this now and NOT already have a good idea who is taking over.

Right - but if they thought Rodgers was not the man to have in then why let him spend £100 on his players and give him preseason and 2-3 months. Surely, it makes more financial sense to pay him off and get the right person in for better long term results (which presumably they think the new manager will give them).

Time to buck the trend....

I think its a shame he's gone.

Sorry, what's that I hear you say?

I honestly think its a shame when anyone is sacked - in or out of football - but I do think that in this case, Rodgers was probably given enough rope to hang himself.

At times under Rodgers in the time he was here, I felt we played some absolutely superb football - That game against Arsenal a few years back just felt incredible for me - but equally at times, we've looked really immature - that same season against Crystal Palace.

What I will say is, I'm pleased that he was at least given a decent amount of time to build 'something'.

I hope whomever replaces him is given the same respect, and has time to build a squad. As it stands, I think on paper we've got a load of players - many of whom are decent and would get into most other premier league sides - but if we are serious about Top 4 etc, in my mind the squad lacks balance.

How do you know there is no one in the frame?

Not really, that is why transfers are not just Rodgers decision but a group decision. Also Klopp would not have been available in the summer.

That's my point - I think they've done it with someone very much in the frame.
