"Rodgers was informed his three years and four months tenure had been terminated in a phone-call from FSG president, Mike Gordon. The Liverpool manager had left Goodison Park separately to the team coach when the call arrived and Ian Ayre, the club’s chief executive, met the Northern Irishman at Melwood training ground to explain the decision in person."

The biggest mistake he made was changing the formation all the time, and playing people way out of position.
Let people compete for positions and play the right formation and players.
It was almost like he was continually picking formations to try and prove how clever he was. No one else would think of this, ergo I'm proving that I have a level of knowledge you don't have...Let people compete for positions and play the right formation and players.
No, Brendan. You might know things we don't based on being at Melwood when we're not but the reason no one else would play those formations is that only the most basic level of knowledge is required to see that they make no fking sense. And if you'd watched the videos afterwards you couldn't have helped seeing what we all saw and concluding the same.
Be careful what you wish for, they say. But God I'm happy tonight.

I grew up in an age when LFC didn't sack managers so while I'm glad we've made the change I'm not going to gloat. I just hope whoever we get in is successful. I'm not taking that for granted.
That's because you grew up in an age where we won things I don't think FSG will get away with 'interviewing' the next manager in the same way as the last. The likes of Klopp and Ancelotti would tell them to get stuffed.
Whilst most of us are rejoicing in BR's departure (myself included) I do also want to thank him for getting us so close to our first title in 25 years. Whatever you say about him, he did get us playing a style of football that was exciting and an absolute joy to watch during 2013-14 season. Much of it was due to Suarez & Co but BR also should get his fair share of credit. Unfortunately once Suarez departed I don't think he was able to ever reproduce that style subsequently. For all his failings, he did at least attempt to try and play football in the right way when he had the tools to do so.

Partially true - we had continuity. Shanks had 15 years in the job - many of those seasons we didn't win anything. Souness was the first to get the push that I saw - and that was "by mutual consent". I suspect they've been sounding out whoever they want already - they're not stupid people in that regard, whatever some on here may think. I would expect an announcement in the next few days.
I don't understand Liverpool. The fans expectations are so high that I doubt anyone in todays business of football is going to match them as the success you had in the 80's is not going to return in such abundance. Not to say you cannot win things including titles, but not in the same quantity as you did given the financial power of the other clubs.
Your club has invested so much money including 60Million GBP from my team Southampton and any new manager will want to start building again with new players, and there will be transition time of a couple of years.
Life as a football fan of one of the larger clubs must be a constant disappointment. I wish your club all the best as you bring in another new manager (except in 2 games time where you play us)

For some people that is the case. But I think the problem now is that the way we have been playing has been poor and have no signs of improving. It's ok if there are signs of improvement or the players are trying/ making sense in terms of positions/ tactics. But that has been missing for too long.Your club has invested so much money including 60Million GBP from my team Southampton and any new manager will want to start building again with new players, and there will be transition time of a couple of years.

If we're looking at history as the guide it has to be Ancelotti.
De Boer has really only had success at one club in a very weak league.
My fear with Klopp is that he took a few seasons to really make an impact at Dortmund and then tailed off considerably after just a few seasons of success.
