Shaun Wright-Phillips mk2 ?
Exactly. Wouldn't surprise me. Its a sign of how far we'd fallen that we are even debating how much of a loss he was (or wasn't).

You might argue that City will score more goals as a team, so Sterling should get more. But then they scored 6 at the weekend and he didn't get any of them......
Yeah and I suppose at the same time you could argue he should at least get more assists too. But he's one of those who seems to need a lot of opportunities just to get a few of either.

The commentators even said several times how much more effective Navas was when he came on at half time.

What do you base that goal tally on? 18 goals in 95 appearances across 3 years with us, apparently. I suppose 10 goals is possible, based on that... but surely he should be a lot better.
I'm sure he crept into double figures across all competitions in the last couple of years with us. He will probably get a similar amount for City. Suarez - I was devastated to see leave. Sterling - really not bothered. Would have been good if he'd stayed as he's a good player - but we mugged City on the price. Shame we are yet to see the fruits of that reinvestment yet.

Still - we have been good against Spurs last couple of seasons. Let's hope this along with the new manager effect sees us start to climb the table!

Can't wait to hear your expert insights on the new managers failings once they turn up as I know you'll be looking to validate yourself as our resident oracle.

rofl

I find all the anger towards RT hilarious

He called it way way earlier than any of you lot, as usual we see the thread go from vehemently disagreeing with him to grudging acceptance that he was right, ala Roy and Kenny yet still people have digs.

I think the fact that he has called it each time and made many members of this thread look a bit silly is what really sticks in the craw

The average length of tenure for a Premier League manager is just over 2 years. RT has been "predicting" BR's sacking for about 3 years. What's that saying about broken clocks...

what "anger"? some light ribbing maybe. And you lot accuse LFC fans over being overly sensitive?

I am not having a go at RT (and never really have) but predicting a manager will lose support and be sacked is hardly godlike genius, it is a dead cert, just a matter of when

To be completely fair Keyser, a lot of the issue with RT is the manner in which he posts. Plus he did say he wanted LFC to lose every game so they sacked the manager.

However, as I said in a post above, I think he should at least be allowed a week's grace to give it large on here as this is probably the best week of his sporting life.

edit to add: just because Rodgers is gone it doesn't make him a "fraud" either.

BR provided us with some great memories and we all wanted to believe in him, who wouldn't?

What I have learnt though, is to listen match goers opinions carefully because highlights and live TV coverage doesn't quite show the whole picture.

I like RT's football knowledge and agree with a lot of what he says. Having said that, he is the master at winding you up after a bad result, and I don't expect that to change any time soon :-/

No not really, it's just the internet so it's really not that bothersome and being concerned with looking silly to a bunch of strangers isn't really a concern.

Some of us have been round since he turned up in 2010 and seen that for all his thoughts and outcomes on this season there have been many more prior that have been proven totally wrong in addition to being at the centre of nearly every occasion where this forum did get shut or nearly shut.

Shouting about which players should exit, how many should come in and how much we should spend before a new manager has even turned up speaks volumes.

I look forward to hearing how Klopp is wrong when he rolls out his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation and only playing 1 up front is stupid.

Anyhoo, exciting times ahead, looking forward to seeing who the new manager is and how the players will react beer

So it looks like Klopp. Not much talk about Ancellotti is there?? Or is that for good reason ?

I like them both, and both would be a huge improvement, but Carlo not known for sticking around long

He'll score double figures this season and have a similar number of assists imo.
No Chance. The only double figures he'll make is the amount of shots off target. So over hyped and over rated.

The more I read about Klopp, the more I think he might be the one more suited. I would be happy with either. Not getting either doesn't bear thinking about really.

Apparently Klopp has arrived on Merseyside and a press conference is being arranged?

I read this morning that there was nothing imminent, although "FSG would like signing as soon as possible".

So what you say is bound to be right! lol

4231 with the right players isn't stupid. I personally don't think we've got the player for it right now but it's better than changing formations and players in formations every week.

I've watched Sturridge play since he arrived and I think in a 4231,whilst he isn't ideal, he's our best option. I don't think Benteke is dynamic enough to play 4231, particularly when you see that the 3 behind him are all intricate guile players rather than beat the man and cross the ball types.

Of the 3 behind the striker we have Firmino, Coutinho and Lallana and I think Milner also. All too similar and not enough goals there. We need at least one pacy player there that can be at his man with speed as well as guile.

The defensive 2 will be interesting. Can is clearly the future and may start there, particularly whilst Henderson is out. He'll start next to Lucas imo.

Back 4 picks itself with Lovren injured and Sakho clearly no longer overlooked to make room for the manager's player.

For 4231 to properly work for us I expect another fast dynamic striker, a pacy winger and a really strong defensive midfielder brought in over the next 2 windows.

Come back and quote me when this happens. smile
