So you think a footballer from the 70s & 80s is going to help lure your transfer targets, including youngsters?

However FSG knew the fans loved Sterling and they also knew that Sterling would be the best way to finance a huge spending spree for the new manager. They decided that the fans would accept Rodgers departure, Sterling’s departure and Gerrard’s departure if they could drive a wedge between the fans and Sterling and after all three have departed embark on a huge spending spree.
Seriously?!! FSG engineered the break down in Sterling's contract talks, just so we can sell him and the fans wouldn't be mad that we're going on a huge spending spree?!! Who writes this st? That right there removed any credibility the article might have received from me, even if there are some valid points and rumours that turn out to be true.

I've only seen him shaking the hands of new arrivals for photos. I can't imagine he's that much involved if at all, it'd make more sense for Sir Alex to be.

If Dalglish had a good spell managing Liverpool recently then I'd fully understand.

I am just thinking BR has ZERO pull to anyone bar an 18,19,20 year old - would kenny have anymore pull or not than BR - (desperate times)

That sounds more like the meeting that will happen, not the work of fiction i just read in the link above.

The transfer committee will be reworked, a figurehead is needed like an Frank Arsean to give it some pull to actually get targets they find and not let them slip away.
Arnesan is one of the names I mentioned on here the other day that its reported FSG will be talking to. The theme of the posts is clear enough though, the intention IS for the transfer committee to be overhauled this summer.

An interesting angle that I hadn't considered is that Sterling has already lost £1m by not signing the contract offered at Christmas (£35k to £100k). If he stays and runs down his contract he'll be over £4m out of pocket.

So there's some incentive there for him to sign a new deal, even if he did then leave next summer or whenever, if FSG play hard-ball and keep him here.

Clearly shows how much of an idiot his agent is. Can't imagine many players looking at this situation and wanting to switch to him!!

Kenny Dalglish to lure in transfer targets. rofl

What am I reading.

The only memories of him these days are his fantastic spell managing you a few years ago.
if you a 12 yr old gimp or a one eyed st fan - yes that is true.
So you think a footballer from the 70s & 80s is going to help lure your transfer targets, including youngsters?

Dalglish should never have been given the opportunity of that extra season. He was the right manager to come in and steady the ship on a interim basis after the disaster that was Roy.

The lesson for FSG here is clear, they will, I have no doubt, protect their investment. Mr Rodgers is in for a very tough time. It is very clear that not only has he failed this season, he is also operating against the transfer committee. The club are recruiting players and because they are not Mr Rodgers' choices it seems that he is not utilising them to their strengths.

As for Sterling. I completely understand why he is leaving. Wing back one day, lone striker the next..... we played our best last season with him in a front 3 or in the hole. We could still have played this exact way with the players that were available this season. Mr Rodgers for whatever reason decided on a different path.

I suspect if he does sign a new contract, it will be backdated.

Maybe he has realised what a charlatan Rodgers is and that he's better off elsewhere ...

Or it's proof that he is indeed not really interested in the money and would rather be somewhere else challenging for honours.

Mr Rodgers is not a charlatan. He is a mid table manager that is managing a team at mid table. He is attracting mid table players from previous mid table teams he's managed before.

At the moment I would be careful throwing Markovic and Moreno in there - not done anything really
Moreno's form has massively dropped since promising early season form

Maybe mid-table players (in their first season as potential talent in a new league in a new country), but certainly not from mid-table teams. Same with Balotelli.
