Maybe mid-table players (in their first season as potential talent in a new league in a new country), but certainly not from mid-table teams. Same with Balotelli.
Markovic was a strange one for me considering we have IBE coming through - we really should have used that money on a striker - we could have bought a 35m striker for that
If we had dropped 35m (using 16m for mario) on lyon last summer for Lacazette I imagine we would not be sat here now discussing BR or 5th 6th or 7th
Massive fk up

Mr Rodgers is not a charlatan. He is a mid table manager that is managing a team at mid table. He is attracting mid table players from previous mid table teams he's managed before.
Sturridge, Coutinho, Can, Markovic, Moreno...
He never wanted Sturridge, he wanted Dempsey.

The committee identified and brought in Coutinho.

Can, sure has potential but thats all. Lets not pretend otherwise.

As for Markovic and Moreno. They've not done much have they. Is anyone really going to claim that he's done anything useful at all?

He's a mid table manager that is at risk of losing his job.

So we've established he has bought players from clubs he hasn't managed before and that came from teams near the top of their leagues.
You accept he isn't a charlatan.

Anything else whilst we are at it?

He's not a charlatan no. He's a mid table manager that is ensuring Liverpool are a mid table club. In fact on the whole I agree it doesn't matter where he gets the players from, mostly they end up becoming mid table calibre. Some of his signings were always that - Allen, Borini, Lovren and Lambert spring to mind. Some of the committee identified targets had potential but quickly became mid table players to fit in around him - Balotelli (no way is he as bad as he's been for us), Laser, Moreno, Lallana, Sahin and then some that he never wanted but were decent have been forced out of the team such as Sakho.

The only transfers we've had in since he got here that have genuinely worked are Coutinho and Sturridge.

It really doesn't matter what I think. He's had the transfer responsibilities reduced after his first window of signings. I now expect all decisions to be now taken off him on transfers. If he stays all he'll become is a puppet.

Why the change of tack?

A chill wind of realisation sweeps through the board, were drifting away and even the most optimistic fan can see it. In Bren we probably have as good as we are going to get.

Unfortunately the position we're in now has been caused by decisions made last year and the year before. There's a certain inertia to this stuff and it takes an awful lot of money (see City) to go against that, or speed it up.

There is no change here. It would appear that perhaps Mr Rodgers is doing exactly what he was hired to do. Unfortunately, I do not think he, as of yet, is able to realise this.

I have developed a deeper understanding not an alternate one. Mr Rodgers shortcomings are not of his ability, rather it is his perception of his ability. FSG know exactly what they're doing here. Well they did until FFP changed....

Apparently he was a Utd fan when younger. Its never going to happen obviously though.

Interestingly the Mail, Star and Times are all reporting it, suggests they've been briefed by someone. Tony Barret is the times chap reporting it, which would suggest to me that you're trying to get City and Chelsea to bid by making our interest public.

Yep probably
No way FSG would want to face the fans if they sold him to you

Advocate would make Lovren look like a 50 million pound player. Its not been about our individual defenders but the coaching of the team defensively imo.

Pleased for the lad. That overhead kick was something special.

I never had Sye down as a fan who'd jump ship to a better team when things aren't going well.
