Don't seem to have an official thread?
I was going to say since the "team" I support probably won't be in the Premier League next year I think I'll be cheering on 'The Cherries'. I like Eddie Howe and the way you guys have been playing this season. Also I believe it's Bournemouth's first time ever in the top flight? Quite the fairy tale story since 2008-09 season.

I thought the same - no Official AFC Bournemouth thread, maybe we should kick it off here.
I have been watching the cherries all season as I have for many years as they are my home town team. I would class myself as a supporter, although my main love is Everton.
Never in my wildest dream did I think they would get in the top flight so now feel slightly torn and thought it would be hypocritical for me to start an AFC Bournemouth thread.

Congrats to Bournmouth on a fantastic achievement, but the ground and capacity are just not fit for purpose. They should share with Southampton or stay in a lower division.
The PL is meant to be a prestige product that is televised across the globe, and the buyers are paying top dollar. There should be a minimum ground standard for the clubs that enter it.

It was a bloody brilliant season! I'm not a football fanatic, but have followed my home team through good and bad to the heady heights they have never scaled before.
Don't think the ground matters. They need to do some work such as upgrading the floodlights, under soil heating etc to meet the required standard, but why rush to spend loads of money straight away expanding capacity for what could potentially be only one season at the top?

We should not have grounds with 11500 capacity in the PL. Not if we want to continue to sell it abroad as a premium product. Why can't they groundshare with Southampton?

Stevenage's ground was less than 6000 and they were given ample notice to improve along with some financial irregularities which they failed to do. Have you ever been to Goldsands? Although it currently only has an 11,500 capacity it is a nice modern ground with bags of room around for expansion. Take your issue up with the PL!

It had more room before they sold off some land for housing in hard times! South stand has plenty of space to expand, though it is a former waste tip so has some contamination issues.digimeistter said:

No, but I've been to Dean Court. Goldsands may have room for expansion but it hasn't been expanded and won't be for next season. And I do blame the PL. They should have minimum capacity standards that all should know about so clubs have time to prepare if they think PL football is a possibility.For me it's all about the standard of football

Indeed - see how it goes rather than rushing to upgrade now with the risk of doing a Blackpool and heading straight back to the lower divisions then with a half empty stadium each week (though hopefully not!)Maybe it should be the same as when you go from League One into the Championship.

That gives you one season to see how you get on and two more to actually do the work. Seems a sensible way round what can be a financially tricky situation.... we went down after just one season up there and I shudder to think what would have happened if we had spent millions making the ground up to standard then gone down.
