And what do you think? England's pen was lucky and frankly I thought Colombia should have had a pen when England's goalie cleared their striker out at the end of the first half.
I do not think England will go very far. We are about a level behind the top teams. But yes, there were some meaty challenges. Colombia were a tad hard done by.
Still, they have got further than the men's team managed.
The second goal was very good.
I think the thing people are forgetting is that a lot of the players ARE still amateurs. Most of the Colombian side who went out against a very poor US outfit last night are amateurs or semi professional, so I don't think you can judge them by the same standard. But even then, the Colombians showed a lot of good technical skill. Even the Norway team England played against has semi-professionals within it.
If they were all professionals with the same level of training, funding and opportunities as the male game then yes it would be a valid comparison.
When will be worth watching will be Germany vs France. That is going to be a humdinger.

iven your user name Von Uber, and your use of the exclamation mark I incorrectly assumed you had strong feelings on the matter.
Not really no. I just accept that England got lucky that day, just as they were unlucky at the world cup with lampard. That's the way it goes sometimes.
Oh and yes I am 1/4 German, and I have a vaguely germanic surname - hence the username.
All that means is once England exit the world cup, I can at least support a team likely to win it
