Lets say Wenger and co. blow whatever financial reserves they have on some tasty players. Would that ensure or even guarantee them better than say 3rd in the Premiership? There must be doubt about that.
Consider this. The two currently richest clubs in the PL will always be better placed financially to spoil the show. They could even top any bids the Gunners made simply to thwart their efforts even if it means sticking those players on the bench or even sidelines rather than let the competition have them. This as happened and no doubt will continue so. Chelsea were not best pleased to see their goalkeeper migrate to North London.
Until the uber-rich Teams, currently two maybe three in the PL, are no longer better placed financially to always be a thorn in the likes of Arsenal and other wannabees teams, Arsenal can only bide their time and hold on to their funds. This they appear to be doing. It may make the fans of the team rather than the game get the hump, but, that is the way of things now. Get used to it until things change. It may come one day when money no longer shouts its head off in parts of London and Manchester in the hugely unbalanced English Premier League. A league where to this observer, few players are worth the silly sums paid for or to them let alone be accused of actually earning it.
Like it or not, Wenger and co. are actually taking the wiser option and should and no doubt will continue to do so until the financial goal posts are on the move possibly in their favour. Keep in mind nothing lasts forever and patience is a virtue.
Now that the one time super dominance of Liverpool is almost long forgotten and subsequent to that the various successes some say bought by Manchester United, so much so that even usually fair minded me found it a tad same old, same old boring such that I was leaning towards an ABU mindset, this current status quo is unlikely to change anytime soon.
Get used to it ... I have.

blowing cash doesn't guarantee anything but there are degrees here and its not black and white - a lot of people on here struggle with this concept.Consider this. we have blown significant cash; Ozil, Sanchez and Cazorla. we have never been in a better position financially. simply put, we have a team that under performs. that's frankly down to the managers pitch skill set (or lack of) as opposed to a lack of players.... for sure the squad is unbalanced.
giroud could have been easily replaced, hes hardly top flight. he does a job with the finest supply in the EPL in a system designed for him. put him in a team where hes on his own and its back to league 2. and Coq as good as he has been could have been improved without any real strain on club finances. FAB4 could have been brought back in the fold cheaply. are you suggesting at the price CFC paid for pedro he wouldn't have improved the squad but would have financially crippled us?
we will never know but its highly probable that benzema was available as the rumors ran all summer and were only quashed a week before deadline day - RM probably just got fed up with wengers low ball approach - as liverpool did!
in short, once again, AW just didn't want to pay the tkt price.... and now we still have huge cash reserves
new manager may not mean 100mln spend annually on players but it may mean the existing team performs or over performs.... did you see klopps send off? i would rather have a guy in there that can motivate the fans, players and club in that way with the same tools at wengers disposal.

Why do you guys think you're under-performing??
You regularly rank between 4th and 5th in wage bill and same on transfer spend. Wenger has consistently placed you exactly where you should be, or higher.
points distance between positions is skewed relative to the players we have imho..You regularly rank between 4th and 5th in wage bill and same on transfer spend. Wenger has consistently placed you exactly where you should be, or higher.

It's bad enough but the fact that they admitted that they knew this was the case last week is just beyond belief. Wenger doesn't care about us. The club doesn't care about us. Wenger is unaccountable to anyone. I'm at the point of not going back until he is gone. Why should i support them when they clearly don't care.

Our (Utd) striking options arent stellar beyond Rooney but we do have bodies and have taken a punt on a young promising lad. If this had happened to Wellbeck post window it would be bad enough but as you say prior knowledge and still not acting is madness at best and wilful ignorance at worst.

Welbeck "out for months" had surgery on his knee last week....I wonder why that snippet didn't hit the news until now.
And here we go again. Injuries start to bite, particularly in the area we should have strengthened. It's a absolutely disgrace, we've got Welbeck out, Walcott isn't a centre forward to save his life, Alexis isn't comfortable there either and we've sent Akpom on loan.Total shambles. Same issues every year; failure to recruit, poor start to the season, injuries in key areas.
