He was saying you could have bought the Prem team of the year (at the price they were bought for by their clubs at the time) for less than the two listed.

Sure, but half of those lot were picked up as youth prospects. It's stupid to say, with hindsight, that you could have picked up these amazing players for just a few million each.

You couldn't buy "the 2016 PFA Team of the Year" for less than £72m because right now they're all worth a lot more than that. Sure you could have bought them years ago, but years ago they were only decent youth prospects or players performing well in lower leagues - neither of which Arsenal need right now - they need proven, ready-made first XI starters.

Looking at those players if you went back to the beginning of last year I reckon you could have bought everyone bar Kane for less than £70 million.

DDG would have taken £30m - £40m of that straight away. In fact probably £50m for Arsenal. In fact I doubt Arsenal could have bought DDG, Alli and Payet for anything near £70m.

Utd were going to sell CCG to Real for £30m + Navas, so probably closer to £45m. I doubt that the price would be under that for a traditional rival, especially given the position Utd were in at the time.

3 of them were youth players, 2 of which were with Arsenal....

All the rest were bought within the last 2 or 3 seasons. A few it was there first season with their clubs. So yes, you could have bought many of those players in the last couple of years for £72m. It's not stupid at all. Each of the clubs they play for scouted and selected the players. Why didn't Arseanl? Lack of transfer funds was clearly not the reason.

So Jeremy Wilson and David Orenstein are both briefing Mustafi is done for £35 mil and Perez is done for £17 mil and that it takes " total transfer spending to £100mil". They both only say that stuff when instructed. I couldn't have got it more wrong yesterday.

For the first time since mid 2000's we might actually have experienced cover in every position on the pitch. Different debate whether they're good enough.

No fking clue about Perez, feels like he's an Eduardo type signing.

Maybe the angst is starting to get through to HQ at last. Apparently the "Wenger out" chants at Leicester last weekend were of a level never seen before, loud majority rather than the vociferous minority.
