Really terrific performance last night, Ozils pass to Gibbs in the build up for the third really was pin point and took the Basle players out of the game. Good to build a bit of momentum ahead of the clash with City.

Henry got paid £10mil in his last season in 2006...whist was effectively £200k a week....so they are well capable of paying big money.

He extended his contract in the year before he left for Barca for which Arsenal paid him a £5mill fee. I doubt there are many players since in the Premier League who've been paid £5mil fee to extend a contract.

I am sure £200k is already on the table...the last two games have only strengthened Ozil and Sanchez's bargaining position....and I think in isolation it would be easy commercially to justify £250k a week. The problem is when you do that Wilshere, Ramsey and The Ox all have contracts due at the same time and they'll all be wanting big pay rises taking them firmly north of £100k a week. Then it starts getting expensive....

I dont think those last 3 are in any position to be demanding anymore money, 1 is on loan the other 2 are not even regular starters are they ?

I would be very happy if they were in a position to bargin that kind of deal.

Sadly not however.

Out of the 3, I do think The Ox has stepped up a little in the last few games (I know, form is temporary), but I hope it continues.

The Ox has had his best start to a season ever (not saying much) but it's something like 6 goals and 5 assists, Wilshere's been injured forever but he's starting to look maybe 80% of his potential for Bournemouth and I reckon Ramsey and Xhaka are the midfield pair we'll see come to be first choice for the rest of this season now Santi's season is all but over. Wenger's let Xhaka bed in over time and I think now he's looking like the real deal...I think Ramsey's going to play alongside him. Lets not forget the year we beat Hull in the FA Cup Ramsey was far and away our stand out midfield player playing alongside Arteta whose probably not a bad proxy for Xhaka in terms of range of passing etc.

I hope they all stay personally especially Wilshere whose probably the least likely.

The Ox is very different to other players we have...he's a powerful player who can beat people with the ball which none of our other wide players can
Ramsey's had the best season an Arsenal CM has had since Cesc left and has had a shocker with injuries (not by any means all his fault). He gets behind the opposition which with Ozil and Sanchez to find him is a huge asset.
Wilshere at his peak is a phenomenal talent I just hope we can see him really do it for Arsenal

The question is do they really want to stay....or are they putting in these almost unrealistically high demands knowing the club won't budge and thus make it easier for them to go elsewhere...?

I see Chelsea have now also declared an interest in Alexis if the papers are to be believed, and Real Madrid are denying they are interested, which probably means they are.

Rumour is we are not willing to meet Ozil's wage demands and are reluctantly willing to accept offers on him in the summer.....

As I've said, if either or both, are in the squad come next September, I'll be delightedly surprised.

Unless one or two big name signings are made?

I assume that the talk of Ozil and Sanchez leaving is from what you have read in the media?

No one knows how long negotiations take for these types of player, but talk of them leaving is just click bait from the media who know that Arsenal have a massive following online so by creating stories about our top players leaving they know Arsenal fans will click.

Remember last month when Bellerin was supposedly going back to Barca and that Pep was also interested?

6 year contract now signed.

I was listening to a Podcast last night with a French journalist called Phillipe Auclair...he's not prone to hyberbole. He said one or both of them have been offered £400k a week NET by Chinese clubs. As he said there isn't a PL club that can or will compete with that but it causes "issues".

The 400k offer from China is to Alexis from what I've seen.

I seriously doubt he would want to play there though, but it's a nice bargaining weapon to have in your armoury when it comes to contract renewal time.
I think it's not just about money though, there's an element of status sure, especially when you see Shrek on a ludicrous amount and he's not be worth that for years now in comparison, but I still fear it will be perceived lack of ambition from the club that will be the nail in the coffin of any move away.
The rumour is AW is not seeking to make a move for anyone in the January window......
So, do either of them genuinely believe that they are in a team that has a genuine chance at PL or CL titles as it stands...?
If so, I think they will likely accept the improved but not silly offers on the table (as did Bellerin) - if not, then I think one or both will go if a genuine offer from the likes of Barca, Real, Bayen M, Man City, Man U or Chelsea are on the table.

In my opinion Sanchez has bigger ambitions than playing in a sh*t chinese league in the prime of his career, despite what they are offering him. Doesnt strike me as a player that plays for the money either, far from it infact.

Wenger also said yesterday that he would rather let them run down their contracts than sell them.

Always good to beat that scummy lot today!

It's turning out to be one hell of a season, and Man City are currently being torn a new one by Leicester!
