+ this demonstrates just how accustomed Costa is: https://vine.co/v/OFQdmABq2Od#

Sickening that there is no conscious effort to deal with this type of behaviour, especially when a Rugby WC referee disallowed a try immediately (for Fiji) after seeing an infringement on the big screen replay.

Costa is a prick to play against but you'd have him in your team if you could. There were some players I used to play against that I would have loved to play with but absolutely hated playing against them.

Spot on, and well said for a spud.
Garth Crooks is so full of st, I can't stand the bloke.
Normally I would agree, but he is spot on here!

One day Costa will get what he deserves...

Yup, I think Garth has nailed it on this occasion.

Costa is a disgrace , he's the nastiest piece of work in the Premier League since Roy Keane. He get what's coming to him at some point.
Don't forget Viera and Keown.
Vieira and Keown were combative I'm not going to deny that for a minute. However, they did not go out with the agenda of target players to get them booked by cheating or any means possible.

There is no place in the game for players like Costa, I've no respect for him. He could have received 2 red charges possibly even 3 in one game yesterday. I counted a total of 5 incidents where at the very least he could have been booked.

He's strong , powerful and has an eye for goal. However, he's more interested in fighting than playing football. Imagine how could he'd be if he stopped being a and channelled his energy in to playing football.

No thanks, I wouldn't want a player like that in the Arsenal team.

You're not serious. Both were pretty accomplished in "the dark arts" of football. But I would have loved to have had Viera at Chelsea. It was like playing against 3 men when he had the ball. Like a footballing Jonah Lomou.

If Arsenal had Costa instead of Giroud or Walcott, they would be an entirely different prospect, and you'd probably have his name on the back of your shirt!

Costa may be a vicious streetfighting thug, but he's our vicious streetfighting thug.

Listening to the radio earlier someone made the point how Drogba was a) physical and b) a great player...neither of which I can disagree with. I'd have loved him in the Arsenal team.

Costa's not fit to lace Drogba's boots and I'd never want to see him in an Arsenal shirt.

They were both guilty of getting involved when provoked, that was definitely a weakness of both players. However, the difference is that is Costa's game he's actively looking for trouble. I saw it when he was Atletico and he's continued that at Chelsea.

I think is really sad that you are proud to have a thug in your team, that isn't what football is about in my view. It's one of the reasons I watch non-league football every week. The sheer frustration of the antics of players at the highest level just infuriates me.

Yes - Drogba was an immense footballer, I'd have been delighted to have him and Hazard.

Nearly all great teams have a nasty piece of work. Leeds Utd had 10 of them in the 70s, playing alongside Eddie Gray.
Tommy Smith at Liverpool, Storey-Moore in the 70s Arsenal. And put Costa's crimes into perspective. He's a nasty player, but as far as I can recall, he's not done jail time for drink driving, and Tony Adams was a legend at Arsenal. So lay off the "we're above all that" nonsense.

Ps, I would have loved Adams at Chelsea, he's John Terry MkI in my book. Ironically, he did move to Chelsea, but only when he'd stopped playing football! He lives in SW3, around the corner from Sol Campbell.

We're desperate for an Adams-type player at the club.

Tony Adams was also from a different generation of players. Yes he had his personal problems and did do bird; can't see how that can be compared to the way Costa 'plays' football though.

Who are you quoting? I've certainly not said that.

I've chosen to keep the debate about football, you've decided to take it to a new low which sums you up. Also ill advised given the antics of Chelsea players past and present over the years on and off the pitch.

Simply. I don't have any issue with a player who is competitive or combative but I do expect them to be fair. If Costa focused on his game rather than playground fighting he'd be immense.

Well you've just ruled out some legends of the game, including Thierry Henry. It's a good job Franco Baresi never fancied a move to Arsenal!

This is the best footage I have seen of the kick that resulted in a straight red card

http://espn.uol.com.br/video/544319_veja-momento-e...

Unbelievable that got a straight red in the light of what Costa did in the game which didn't even get a yellow.

We all know he is a scumbag, but having had Suarez in my team, I have some sympathy for the "but he's our scumbag" defence.
What I really cannot stand is things like this where he tries to do things jsut to get a reaction and a player sent off. Similarly I have no time or respect for someone (like he did on Saturday) raising his arm asking for a yellow card - should have been carded himself immediately for that.

Err, he didn't get a straight red, he got a 2nd yellow. And Costa did get a yellow for his part.

I thought that asking the ref to book someone was in itself a bookable offence, but it doesn't seem to get enforced.
