Wenger is like the really old appliance at home that still works, could be replaced with something better but you feel bad because it's lasted so long.

I'm going to call my 1983 Saisho microwave Arsene from now on.
So long as it gets your baked beans lukewarm rather than piping hot, the name fits :-)

What I don't understand is Arsenal have been beaten by Bayern so many times, in excruciating ways.

Why did't they go to the Allianz and play defensively? Mourinho would have done it and Conte does it.
THIS.

Chelsea will be back in the CL next season, barring some dramatic collapse of form. We won't win it, that for sure, we might not make the QF, but I'd be pretty confident in saying no one will put 5 goals past us.

Why did't they go to the Allianz and play defensively? Mourinho would have done it and Conte does it. IMO playing a back 4 with 2 defensive midfielders infront of them and then 4 attacking players isn't enough.

Wing backs Gibbs and Bellarin. Mustafi, Mertesacker and Kosciely as CBs and 2 defensive mids infront of them.

Let Sanchez, Chamberlain and Iwobi chase balls for 70 mins and try and nick a goal and bring on fresh legs.

Bayern were really good. They have it in them. Even if you lot set up defensively they might have still won 5-1 but nothing ventured nothing gained...
That's because Arsenal are made up of mediocre players, that's why they find it hard to beat top teams in the Premier League, he needs lots of new players to compete with the best.

Watch Giroud off the ball. It's like he's out for a morning jog.

Not much point in betting yourselves up & getting upset about , Chelsea are the only current Prem team that would give Bayern a game right now.

We may well have the best & most exciting league in the world but we are lacking in the quality stakes.

I think we have to ask ourselves why thee worlds elite do not want to play in England, ? it cannot be the money or adulation , perhaps it's just the the amount of games the players are expected to play & the dread of having to play countless times over the Christmas period.

I guess footballers are like us & want as much time away from work as possible.

Just a thought.

Has anyone else noticed how Sanchez was doing his nut urging the team to move up the pitch and close down? As the game went on AOC was starting to lose it too. Couldn't see anyone else up for it other than those two.

Ozil was nullified.

Had Ospina not saved as many as he did who knows what the scoreline could have been. I think we were lucky at 5-1 and even out 1 was iffy.

I'm away on holiday in Japan so haven't seen any of the Bayern game....just read about it which is bad enough. Return leg will be interesting for the atmosphere and how empty it is....I bet they wish the second leg was away now!

By then we could have suffered further humiliation at the hands of Sutton, and then we have to go to Anfield, and if we loose there - the atmosphere at Emirates for the 2nd leg against BM would be very interesting......!

Indeed.

As a fan, I'm sitting here hoping for a drubbing by Sutton, a drubbing at Anfield before the 2nd leg with BM, and pitiful end to the season performance leading to 6th or even 7th place in the PL and no CL next season.
Its a shame that you have to think that way as the only thing that might produce a change......preferably lead by the owner flogging his interest in the club to someone that actually gives a fk about winning things again instead of adding to his Texas ranch portfolio.
No skin in this one, but out of interest who would you propose to replace him?

Tactically Wenger seems to have learnt nothing about the CL despite playing in it so often. Sad to see a PL club get taken apart that badly...st happens I guess, but against the same team so many times is not good.

Just looked at the odds on Barcelona and Arsenal to both qualify - 233/1 on William Hill, that is rubbish odds!
