If only we could have got that vital away goal like you chaps did eh .

Yeah, at 5-0, the Gooners would have no chance.

From ^ that ^ this bit stands out:

Wenger said:
in the last 20 years only three clubs managed to play every year in the Champions League - Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. If not everything is perfect, not all is wrong.

Real have won it 5 times in that same period, Bayen have won it twice and been runners up 3 times......and we've been err......runners up just the once.

Not much point in betting yourselves up & getting upset about , Chelsea are the only current Prem team that would give Bayern a game right now.

We may well have the best & most exciting league in the world but we are lacking in the quality stakes.

I think we have to ask ourselves why thee worlds elite do not want to play in England, ? it cannot be the money or adulation , perhaps it's just the the amount of games the players are expected to play & the dread of having to play countless times over the Christmas period.

I guess footballers are like us & want as much time away from work as possible.

Just a thought.
No. It's because in Germany, France or Spain all the quality players are concentrated in 1 or 2 teams. Whereas in the Prem they are spread across half a dozen or more clubs. So the competition is far greater and therefore the competitiveness and spectacle is greater. Ergo it is more exciting and more in demand. The fact that the very best teams are from other leagues is therefore inevitable. Whether it matters is the question.

the selfishness of the guy is just unbelievable .....

I very much fear from what I heard from him yesterday he'll be here next season. If he announces his intention to sign a new contract in the coming weeks the only thing for it is to force him out and that means fans protests on a considerable scale before , during and after games at The Emirates.

The 8-2 drabbing by Manchester United and his non-buying in the transfer market that summer prior to that game and then to buy Mertesacker as a knee jerk reaction told me all I wanted to know about the man.
Also I think as a fan it would be less embarrassing if we didn't qualify for the CL rather than go out of it every February.
He's got to go now not the end of the season.

I'd settle for Coco the clown right now. At least he might realise he's an employee of the club and that we shouldn't be eternally grateful for his achievements with an inherited team from 15-20 years ago.

I would have like Klopp but he went to Liverpool.

I'd go for Allegri or Simeone.

Whoever comes is going to need time to sort this mess out. I'd say at least 3 years. There would need to be a clear out only a few of the current squad would survive for me;

Cech
Bellerin
Mustafi
Koscielny
Wilshere
Welbeck
Sanchez
Perez
The Ox
Walcott
Holding

I think these players have the right qualities if not to be a first player but at least make an important contribution. I'd honestly can the rest.

Interesting choice of players to keep there...

No Cazorla, Iwobi, Monreal and Le Coq?
And Ospina is a good number two keeper.

Iwobi has a long way to go yet. I wouldn't be starting with him. Get ahead, secure the game and then bring him on.

Anyone read a rumour that MU are in for AOC and maybe a swap deal with Smalling?

raneri proved there is nothing wrong with our current squad to be doing far better than we are ... or historically have done.

even with 2 bob ligue 2 quality slow as hell 1 trick donkey giroud up front.

- the hammerings in CL or EPL are more often than not repeated school boy tactical errors mixed with a lack of mental strength.

- the lies on finance etc are from the man himself as you only needed to have a basic understanding of finance to know what the real position was which was written in black and white print.

- the mental weakness within the team is a reflection of wengers own personality. hes mentally weak which is probably why PV4 was happy to publicly dismiss wenger and his approach.

- the over reliance on youth, the over protection of substandard players that have had their skill trained out of them, played out of position and/or confidence destroyed is as a wenger issue.

- and for the delusional gooners to blame kronke and co and not squarely wenger when you look at the total contract cost and expenditure of the club since the yanks have been involved just goes to show we must seriously have the thickest fans in europe. especially when we have the highest tkt prices and consistently fail for the same reasons year in year out. sure kronke wants AW to stay, hes making him money. but the fans decide in the end!

sanchez is far too good to be playing under wenger and hes off. bring a new guy in and he might think twice (assuming there was a viable succession plan) and replacing a player of sanchez quality is far harder than replacing a manager of AW's quality ... if you benchmark against results on pitch not balance sheet.

I would have fired wenger over 5 years ago as an utter failure and not rewarded him for consistent failure which sends a message to the players that the club philosophy is not about winning but taking part - so its now a cultural problem.

i maintain afc can choose any top flight manager they want. they will have the pick of the bunch. my view is the situation at the club is so conducive to managerial success (money, stability, a good base of existing players, a board that will invest, the world class stadium and its the most important club in the most important city in Europe).... been saying that for years.

in short the fans should either put up or shut up. can have it both ways....
