Personally I'm enjoying the football. Especially loving young Mr Bellerin who is the best young defender we've had since Cole...he's just going from strength to strength. Not bad for a (free) make weight that Wenger had Barca include as part of the Fabregas transfer. He's worth rather more than Fabregas now I reckon....
I agree with you about Bellerin. I'm not sure he's worth more than Fabregas, however I understand where you're coming from.bobo said:
Well ...
who thinks the CL table position reflects the complete and utter lack of quality in the squad
OR
That wenger doesnt actually know how to use said very expensivly assembled quality when the pressure is on.
Pls dont talk about leading the epl... come back when ITS won.
Finally wtf is remy garde, apart from wengers best mate, and with absolutly no real credentials for epl why would anyone want him.
Still cant believe they let klopp slip the net.

Without Bellerin and especially Koscielny we were always going to struggle defensively, and lack of Walcott's pace meant they could push up. Still, some of their goals were a bit too easy and I think we could have been tighter even with the need to score ourselves, difficult balance against them.
Was it an embarrassment? NO. Losing to Stoke away or getting thumped by Monaco at home is embarrassing. A 5-3 aggregate loss against possibly the best team in Europe, without some of our key players in the second game is disappointing, but not embarrassing.
I don't think we'll qualify now, and I think I'd rather we came bottom and avoid the Europa league

Agree. Now is the time to concentrate on the PL, with other teams misfiring, AW needs to forget CL.
I don't for one minute expect he will though, as I expect we'll come up short again come Feb/Mar time, with crocked players yet to come back or get match fit, and others being added to the injury list.
Hey ho......
The Munich results are somewhat of an irrelevance. Probably the best team in the world, it's to be expected they'd finish top.
The reality is that you were in a league of three, with Olympiacos & Zagreb. You are bottom with 3 defeats. A club with the staff and resources of Arsenal, should be able to come out on top against the other two. Especially given the advantage of home/away ties, rather than a one-off knock out match. The fact that you beat Munich makes it even more bizarre.
I think it will come down to whether Munich turn up against the Greeks and how many they put past them. Can still see you going thorugh. You have the quality, do you have the belief?

This. We beat Bayern at home and lost away....we'd have taken that in a heart beat when the draw was made. The results against the other two were appalling....our first XI and probably now 17 or 18 players are better than they have been for years. The trouble is the likes of Ospina,Debuchy,Gibbs,Flamini who you want to be banging the door down have shown anything but the form to do so. Those players are good enough to have beaten the other two...if playing on form.
I honestly don't care if we go out of the CL....in fact it is probably a good thing. I remember when we were top of the PL at Christmas a couple of years ago we came to Feb and had home and away fixtures with Bayern...sandiwched with PL fixtures with Man City, Liverpool and Spurs IIRC We'd had a minor wobble in Jan already and those fixtures just nailed us combined.
If we ended up in the Europa now we are out of the League Cup it would give our squad players somewhere to try and find some form. Assuming we have enough fit players to rotate that is.

Far too much logic for an insitutionaled wengerite brain to comprehend. The reality is that you were in a league of three, with Olympiacos & Zagreb. You are bottom with 3 defeats. Sad but true

sorry but got to pick you up on that. what planet are you living on? or do you just feel comfortable with failure haveing got used to it for so long? is it a case of tunnel vision ?
first of all it was our worst-ever champions League defeat. if that isnt embarrassing i dont know what is. if that is acceptable for a squad of our calibre then frankly as a goooner a pox on your house. lesser teams don’t lose to BM in that way.
wenger didnt change anything when it was going south let alone when we were getting a total hiding. he didnt even get out of his seat with conviction. this demoralises the team. all those 1st team players (like ligue 2’s finest; giroud) know they wont get benched by wenger if they dont give 110pc game in game out. wenger probably told him not to get injured signalling to the team that the job or rather wengers aspirations in the CL were already there... with failure... utterly disgraceful if true, but i can imagine it.
theres lots you can do as a manager to instil belief or to use alternate systems, klopp played 442 against us with a club in crisis and half its players pre sold... and look at the confusion that caused... wenger is probably the most predictable manager in european football because of his sheer arrogance. any manager worth his salt can pick him off and plenty of lesser managers have done so with far, far lesser teams..
indecently the win at home was pure luck.... the writing was SO on the wall then just looking at the 1st half ....
the fact is the team is excellent, certainly good enough NOT to be in this position on the CL or to take a hiding like that.... that to me is embarrassing and unacceptable considering what’s at the managers disposal.
i have always maintained... why pay wengers massive salery if you are satisfied with losing.

Wojciech Szczesny, the 25-year-old keeper who is on loan at Roma from Arsenal, is an "uncontrollable lunatic", according to former Juventus keeper Stefano Tacconi.
