A column on Arseblog today discussing midfield. It mentions saka being used as the left side of a midfield three. Hadn't really occurred to me....

Pretty much what he was doing last night, although more attacking than mid.

It makes a lot of sense and he's competing with more players down that left hand side. I'm not sure that midfielder will be incoming so is a potential 'internal' solution. It would be great to see him playing every week as he is class.

Anyone know whats happened to Saliba?

Talksport are saying Torreira deal is done but its a season loan deal.

Personally, i think there is something not quite right with Torreira, i loved watching him play but for some reason there are background issues and if it is a loan deal, just adds fuel to the speculation fire of what those might be.

Saliba is only 19 so didn’t expect him to come straight in, I’m guessing Arteta’s looked at him in training and thought he’s not 100% ready yet. Must admit I did half expect to see him against Leicester though...

I’d have liked Torreira to stay as I would have thought his high energy game was exactly what Arteta wanted but there’s been loads of reports he’s not happy and misses Italy. There’s no point keeping a player if they’re not happy, much like Reyes.

He's a good player but his head/heart have never been right while at arsenal. Just a move that hasn't worked out. Moving on is clearly the best thing. Elneny has come straight back into the match day squad and Torreira hasn't got a sniff so it's fair to say he's done at arsenal.

I got the feeling Elneny is going to do a Coquelin this season, if he can be a solid backup for whoever we bring in that’s fine, he always busts a gut even if lacking any real quality, we’ve already seen how much difference everyone giving 100% all game gives.

Yeah good player but wrong league I think...he had a few good games but ultimately the pace and power of players in the PL meant it wasn’t the right place for him. Big week on and off the pitch coming up ! I listened to the Arsecast yesterday, they had a Liverpool blog writer on...Mane hasn’t been on a losing side at Anfield since he joined in 2016 ! Think they’ve lost one game in that time which he didn’t play in, A lot of more recent arrivals obv not lost either.

Yeah Liverpool are a pretty incredible team at the moment. I wouldn't expect to get anything from the game, but also would be disappointed if we were badly humped by them. Though, we've been so good against to of the table teams the last couple of months that I'm actually quite looking forward to it...... They certainly weren't the better team the last two times we played them but obviously those games came with huge, end of season dead rubber/pre season 'friendly' caveats.

Hopefully we can give them a good game.

I have dreams about playing left wing-back in this liverpool side, what a team.

A 1-1 draw for our lads would be one of the best realistic results, can we hold this Liverpool tidalwave back? I can't see it, we can't mark them all man-for-man, especially when you got the weakest players in the team thinking they are Maradona.

Mane looks like he wants to score a hat-trick every game and then punch someone in the face if he loses the ball, maybe even punch himself.

My missus is a 'Pool fan (Chester) and can't wait to laugh me off the sofa, my prayers are real.

Looking forward to the game. I don't exepct us to win, but I'd like to see some improvement. A draw would be good, no more than a one goal loss and a good performane wouldn't upset me too much.

Of course, it's technically possible that there's an Arteta masterclass incoming, the team has worried me a little but I've thought that several times about Arteta's line up before we've won. Who knows!

I’ve got a good feeling about tonight!

Win tonight and the marker is down for a Top 4 finish this year. Genuinely.

Liverpool will finish above us by the end, but below them it looks wide open imo.

Elneny in from the start. Credit where it's due - he's obviously impressed since returning.

Or maybe it highlights the lack of quality in the middle..... Ceballos would start every game for me. He was immense after lockdown. But what do I know.

Big Al.
