I was impressed with the way Klopp embraced the fact you can win the biggest prize of all by going to Azerbaijan on a Thursday night! wink

Stubbs talking with Rotherham.

I'm not that bothered if he leaves if I'm honest.

If Stubbsy goes, who would you like as new Hibs manager?

Alex McLeish
John Hughes
Stuart McCall
John Doolan
Neil Lennon

Or someone else?

McLeish had us playing good football.
Hughes wasn't very popular when he left and results were bad.
McCall is a clown.
Doolan...who knows, some continuity I suppose.
Lennon would be a good shout I suppose if he'd come

I do feel sorry for hughes

He is falkirks most successful manager but was hated when he left. He took us up, Europe And survival in the spl with a cup final and semi in the league cup.

It was just his style of football. He tries to play utter possession football which with mundane players is tedious.

He also has a habit of signing duds on huge wage bills but no one can argue with his record in Scotland. If he was articulate he'd be highly sought after.

Mccall is a lower league manager without a doubt. He plays the same squad and system regardless of where he goes.

I fear Alex next year. I'd like stubbs to stay as I actually don't rate him ome bit.

Och, he had two goes at promotion without success.

Despite what the nutters on Hibs.net say, winning the cup is secondary to getting into the SPL.

To a shareholder, promotion is more important.

To a fan, winning the cup after 114 years is more important.

Sad to see Stubbsy go but he's turned Hibs around, and last season won the Cup, got to semis of promotion and got to the league cup final. He gave me the best footballing day of my life and leaves as a legend at Easter Road.

As long as he doesn't steal any of our players I wish him all the best!

Stubbs was a laughable failure. Thankfully, the Scottish Cup win has allowed him to sell himself down south and Hibs can now find someone capable of finishing above 3rd in a two horse race.

Pretty much what I was thinking. Failed twice to get promoted, left the club in the diddy tier but turned it around? A fluke (and once in 114 years pretty much defines fluke) cup win and everything else is forgotten?

If Stubbs has 'turned Hibs around' how do we describe Warburton > McCoist?

You boys are having a laugh?! Here's my view...

Stubbsy took on a massive challenge two years ago. A broken club on it's knees... unexpectedly relegated, with hardly any players. Hibs were deservedly relegated from the Premier League. With a resurgent Hearts and the Rangers with their much higher player budget to fight off it was always going to be difficult in that first season for a rookie manager but as it happened we defied the odds by finishing second above The Rangers.

This season we have went backwards in the league unbelievably finishing third behind Houston's scrappers. The cup runs made it more difficult for us to get promoted this season, but I also felt that as the season went on it became harder for our young squad to deal with the pressures of having to win every single week. When it was clear the league title was beyond us the psychological impact on the team was evident and the team's form dipped.

Hibs have been the best cup team in Scotland this season however and fully deserved to win the Scottish Cup. They should also have won the League Cup in March.

Stubbs overall has done a good, solid job with Hibs given what he inherited... and he gave Hibs and their fans their best ever day on May 21st. It was a phenomenal achievement to win the Scottish Cup and Stubbs rightly will be hailed a Hibs legend for evermore because of it.

Personally, I feel his finishing behind Falkirk in the league was totally unacceptable no matter the circumstances. Hibs simply did not score enough goals in both seasons Stubbs was in charge and we paid the price for that in both seasons. Many matches particularly at Easter Road were a bit of a grind to be honest... Hibs toiling to break down teams and a lack of imagination and willingness to change things early enough a factor in many games. It was a disappointment to fail for the second season running to gain promotion and we will pay a price for that over the summer IMO.

He was hired to get Hibs promoted and at the end of the day he failed. His real successes have been in the cup competitions where he has excelled as a manager. I think Stubbsy would have been a great manager for Hibs had we been in the top league where teams come at us week after week, but ultimately his style of play was not what was needed to get us out of the Championship.

It's no real surprise he is heading back south at this stage of his career. Most young ambitious English managers and coaches stay up here for a couple of years only. They will have almost always left their families behind and eventually the pull is there to get back nearer to them and to a level of football and wages which are significantly above ours. In my view, he will only have ever intended to stay for two seasons here. Stubbsy has the chance at Rotherham to establish them as a competitive Championship club and if he does that he will attract a bigger club after a couple of years or so and move on again. I'm afraid it's a fact of life that Scottish football is no more than a learning station for ambitious young coaches and players.

Stubbsy rebuilt our quad in real adversity, he broughtso many very talented young players to Easter Road, he built good solid foundations for the future of our club, and most of all he won Hibs the Scottish Cup and gave the long suffering Hibs fans the greatest weekend of their lives.

And if we hold on to most of the squad, we'll win the Championship next season.

He failed bottom line. The fact that you had two bites at promotion IN THE championship! Failed to win in something like 7 championship games in a row, hadn't won away in 11. Beaten to second place and in the play offs by falkirk. The financial gulf is huge. Yet played 11 against falkirk. Won, two. Yup next year you'll walk that championship laugh

Put things into perspective - he "failed" (your words, not mine) for two years when there were competitors with much deeper pockets and, to be fair, more talented players than Hibs i.e. Hearts and The Rangers.

As for Falklirk, in many games there wasn't much between the teams. Apart from our 3-0 win, of course.

Stubbsy got us to the League Cup final, the play-off semis, and won the Scottish Cup. We played more games last season than any other professional team in the UK. That's not failure. I'd have taken the Cup before promotion any day of the week.
