Considering it was a bunch of kids out there we completely dominated the 2nd half. Some of those kids are going to be household names in the future. Lamela was awesome and played like a leader something I've not seen him do before. His confidence is sky high. This is going to be a good season I think. People have written us off already saying we won't be able to recreate last seasons form but if we continue to play like we did in that 2nd half but with our first eleven then we could even eclipse last season I think.
Yeah i agree , we have not lost any players & the teams that are rebuilding cannot do it overnight. I really cannot see any reason why we can't match or even improve on last seasons efforts.

Sadly i'm at work & haven't seen any of today's game but my son has text me to say Lamela was good in the 2nd half.

You would have thought 2 big clubs could get more fans in that stadium, I remember last year we filled it with 100,000 fans .... looks empty
You have a lot of fans in that part of world it goes back to the 60s and 70s when everybody couldn't wait to get out of Liverpool so they didn't.

They were charging £60 a ticket on a Monday night though! Hardly surprising that it didn't sell out.

Last year we had the same problem as Tottenham - we announced the tour dates late, tickets were quite expensive and it was a mid-week, mid-afternoon game IIRC. The year before that we sold out stadiums on the back of our 2nd place finish, but I think we left some stars behind.

We've left pretty much all of them behind! Only Lamella (who came on) was in the starting 11. All the others still on holiday.

Oh, apart from Eriksen, but he was ill today.

Not sure I'd fancy paying those ticket prices to watch the kids team or fringe players.

& off course not forgetting all those great, great Liverpudlian grandpa's that were shipped out in the late 1800's would also add the Liverpool's down under fan base too.

And why do you think the TV deal has raised so much money worldwide?

I'm not sure if this is a trick question or not but it's raised lots of money because fans around the world like watching Prem league football.

The tours that the more well known clubs make in these far flung places only serve to help increase that viewership. As I said, it helps.

It wasn't an official EPL tour though. It's not like the NFL, where clubs take it in turn to promote the brand in different countries.

Totally different business model though, in the NFL the teams are franchisees to the league, the league owns the image rights, the teams all have the same kit supplier and fans buy their merchandise from the league not the teams. We have a free for all and the premier League owns very little outside the 38 game season.

But these clubs don't play in isolation - viewers around the World pay to watch the premier league games because they want to see these clubs play. Those clubs touring around the World only helps to raise the profile not only for the club itself, but the league too.
