I think the suggestion here is that if Sissoko leaves Spurs in 2 years, they'll only need to pay Newcastle £12m.

Of course I think this is mostly PR spin, since Everton were willing to pay £30m to Newcastle - there's no reason why Newcastle would then want to accept a lesser offer from another club.
yeh like Ashely would accept that... Levy might be good at transfers but Mike Ashely is anything but a mug

Let me know when Ashley issues a press statement disputing this version of the deal would you as it doesn't show him in a good light. Ashley was in a corner last night. To a slightly lesser extent so were Spurs. So if it was Levy v Ashley, where would your money be?

If the player only wants to go to Spurs, and it's this or him sitting in the reserves all year picking up £40k+ a week, then he's be silly not to take it.

Can't see lamela making way. Would be Erikson if anyone I would have thought.

I don't really see him as a forward player though. He's very similar to dembele so I'd have thought he'd be best suited to play in the two defensive midfield positions.

In my mind he doesn't make the first 11 if everyone isfit but it's a lot of money for a sub. Time will tell I guess.

Erikson has been terrible lately, I'd give him a few games in place of him.

You don't live in the real world.

Newcastle had two clubs fighting over the same player. Explain to me how that puts Newcastle in a corner and also how it gives Spurs the upper hand?!

Because the player may have wanted Spurs or nothing? Leaving them with an expensive player that doesn't want to be there.

yes That's the corner Ashley was in for sure. Everton may have agreed to pay £30m but it was also only at £6m per year. Sky were reporting this '£6m a year for 5 years' requirement all day long yesterday before anyone had agreed to it. What we didn't know was that in Spurs case it could be terminated upon him leaving. Everton may have been looking for the same deal.

If you guys had not come in he would not have not stayed at Newcastle he would be wearing Blue now... Ashley simply says they either pay what we want how we want or you pay in the championship or everton... Everton would win everytime especially under their new manager and wage structure

We don't know what Everton were offering, it might have been the same deal as Spurs were offering. It was still a £30m offer only with take-offs rather than add-ons smile

Spurs bid £16m - Newcastle tell you to FRO.

Everton bid £30m, Newcastle accept, Sissoko makes his way to Merseyside to complete the deal.

Now, Spurs also bid £30m. If at this point, the deal is worse than Spurs then Newcastle can simply tell you guys to FRO for the second time, Sissoko completes his move to Everton and you guys miss out. Sissoko can only move to Spurs if Newcastle accept your deal, which would have at least have to have matched Everton's offer.
And the deal between Everton and Newcastle was?

There must be something to this deal, as we all know Levy doesn't like spending big money on people 27+ years old.

Oh dear, more bad news JammyBasturd.

Evertons owner now says he pulled out of the deal, not Sissoko

So, if true, who had the upper hand at that point?
This article completely contradicts itself and just sounds like someone trying to save face.

Yes, MP told Levy to buy him at any cost, he obviously rates him.

Sorry to upset Ascayman wink but the Sissoko deal is looking quite like another excellent Levy deal!

£6m a year so if he stays 3 years that's £18m less whatever we sell him on for.
Don't know why that's going to upset me? It's typical levy. It's why we miss out on good players ha.

Sky now reporting that the Everton owner says he pulled out of the deal.

That would put another light on it.
