The goons quite rightly don't want to pay anyone over £200K a week whereas were not going to go over £100k a week !

Bloody madness , how are we going to compete ?
Our wage bill is already miles behind arse, city, Chelsea, utd and pool and yet we compete.

Once the new stadium is built and paid for we'll be up at Woolwich pay levels.

They spent double our wage bill every year for the last 10 years - they don't have much to show for it.

I dont understand your wage bill now, your wage cap and Arsenals and many others does not seem to have changed since the new tv money came in giving each club about an extra 100m a year...

More tv money for the product will always mean the people that make the product (the players) want more money, goes hand in hand surely ? you cant have the same wage cap that you had pre tv money and expect to keep any players.... Any player with any half decent agent will want a slice of it...

Just like if you were part of a team that brought in an extra 100m in sales for your business you would want a slice of their profit.

You say that but since the TV deal we've re-signed 3/4's of our team to long term deals all within the budget. Levy is a genius when it comes to that.

Where it harms us is when buying.

At the end of the day, no one who just kicks a ball around a field should be getting paid £100k a week, let alone £200k but the business of football has become huge. I think wage structures work to stop things getting even more silly. To be honest I think wage structures should be enforced by FIFA and everyone should have to adhere to them. It would stop teams just buying their way to the top, even the playing field a bit for the lessor teams and help promote developing home grown talent rather than just buying it in.

Unlimited wages benefit no one except the few top players earning millions and the rich clubs who can afford to pay them.

I think its more a case of you have normal lads signing, not these top class foreigners , if you did no matter how much of a genius Levy is you would have problems....

What would happen if you had Suarez, and he wanted 180k a week - do you break your wage structure? course you would as he is worth it....

Any decent agent would not accept for their players a 100k a wage wage cap if it was 100k a week cap 'before' the new tv money

People say footballers are paid well but is Hamiltons wage not about 450k a week ?

contrary to what some people think some players make their own decisions.
Pochettino's stock is pretty high so players will play for him for less money than other managers.

A high number wouldn't do it but a decent agent would advise young players like Alli and Kane to stay put for a couple of years.
It's not as if they are on the bread line.

just to add, I agree with wage caps, I just think its very hard to do if you want to be a 'top club' when others dont implement them or if they do their levels are much higher..

There is no actual evidence that there is a wage cap. It's just media speculation. What is more likely is that there is total salary expenditure that is budgeted for. So you can pay one player £200k if you like but then there is less to pay everyone else. Hence why you move players on before buying more. So it could be that we are increasing our wage bill without increasing the headline individual figure. Whereas we may have had one player on £100k and everyone else on £20k, we've now got half a dozen on £100k and everyone else on £60k.

Cue shouts "Spurs won't break £100k wage cap....."

But we've been out performing many of these clubs anyway. Look at your wage bill v ours.

We are just run differently (some would argue for sale..)

Same with LFC, nearly all big earners were shipped out when FSG came, especially if they were on the wrong side of 26

Our wage bill has dropped LOADS over the last few years since FSG came in ...

Levy has always thought long term. His legacy, in the shape of the new stadium and training facilities, will be felt for decades. He and Uncle Joe have ensured that we will always be contenders.

His achievements have been nothing short of remarkable.

its true we did, im not in denial laugh that was of course a one off, where as recently we are pretty consistent when it comes to finishing above you despite spending far less in bothe transfer fees and wages.

Also you seem to be losing your own argument

A min ago you said 'Our wage bill has dropped LOADS over the last few years since FSG came in ...' except its actually gone up laugh

Ill be honest that does surpise me, as we shifted loads of high earners out and brought loads of younger players in on lower wages,

Can
Firmino
Matip

We are all well down per week, and our 'squad' players tend to be young and on low wages so I am very shocked they have gone up... list of our wages are here
