We already have two pretty aggressive midfielders, I don't think we need any more, but we would definitely benefit from the playmaker particularly if Lamela is going to remain AWOL. Someone who can make the ball stick to them and then spray passes around to unlock defences. Our inability to do this has been evident a lot of times this season particularly in the plethora of draws where we play lovely attractive football right up to the opponents 18 yard box then start playing across the field and back forever and day because we can't find a way around or through.

I think he'd have been great in this team. We sometimes lack options when teams sit 10 men behind the ball and a decent midfield playmaker who can pick apart a team with a perfect pass or winger who can run at defenders could make a difference in unlocking those stubborn defences.

The team with King, Modric, bale and VDV in was some team, it could be argued that player for player its better than our team now. I genuinely think if we had had a proper manager during that time we would have won the league.
For sure we have had better individuals but I think this current side is the best team that I can remember at Spurs.With Modric & Bale in & around this squad then & I genuinely think we would win the league.
Oh I agree when we are on top form, first 11 playing and everyone firing on all cylinders we are nigh on unstoppable, even if they stick 10 men behind the ball....BUT I've also seen far too many games this season where we seem to just run out of ideas. I just think an incisive midfield maestro or a fast skillful winger who can skin defenders would give us that last element of killing instinct that we sometimes lack.
We basically need someone who can do this sometimes.
