The players can do what they want, tactical fouling is part of the game. It's up to the referee to manage the game.

Kante and Matic took it in turns to foul Alli and Luiz took Kane out at least 3 times on the edge of the penalty area. Looked very much like part of the game plan from where I was sitting. Had Atkinson booked any of those players early in the game, Spurs may have made greater use of the ball in the attacking 3rd. I'd suggest that 7/8 fouls is a very high interpretation of "persistent" by the ref....

Also, what was the deal with Batshuayi standing over the ball at a free kick, being told to move, retreating 2ft and the ref just waiving play on? That should have been a straight booking.

6/10 for Atkinson.
