Can Leicester win the league ?

I think last weekend showed, that contrary to belief, we won't buckle under the pressure, but in actual fact, watching spurs on Monday night, looked like it was then who couldn't handle the pressure. I know it's not all over yet, but when we have barely lost a game all season, I don't think we will lose our next remaining 3.
I agree on both counts! I don't see Leicester choking at this stage but in the unlikely event they do I don't see Spurs getting nine points from their remaining games; technically you still need three points to be sure (which I think you'll get) but in practice I doubt you'll require that many as I reckon Chelsea and/or Newcastle will take points off Spurs...Rib said:

I agree - I think Spurs will end up dropping more points than Leicester in the final few games.i would love spurs to win, as a fan...
i feel leicester will however win...
but it aint over till the fat lady sings..... barca went from a 39 match unbeaten run to woeful run of 6-7 games with their magic trio unable to find the net for love nor money, losing two games in the league to lowly opposition.....
re luck, watched a few leicester games this last few weeks... the gods are certainly in their favour... forget the pens, ?rodwells miss with an open goal, watford hitting the post and bar, us hitting the inner upright twice the other night....

A few weeks back it was five points, then it went to eight, then back to five and now seven. Spurs have played well in the last few months but how long have they been in the top four? How long have the been top? A day wasn't it?
They show no signs of narrowing the gap and that is due to how well Leicester have played. Nothing else. They've done what they have had to. Away results at Watford, Sunderland etc ...
Spurs are a nice team to watch etc, more goals scored etc. But all those stats count for nothing without points at the end of the day.

Absolutely right but that has been Spurs for as long as I can remember; they've always tended towards playing attractive football but in the last forty years you can probably count on the fingers of less than one hand the number of times they've been serious contenders for the league title. A good cup side certainly but they've consistently lacked the ability to grind out results when they're not playing well and ultimately that's what wins you championships; champagne football on the days you're on it is all well and good but on its own it's seldom enough to win the league...uk66fastback said:

I thought they were top for about 13 minutes in total wasn't it?
They are bringing a video out of it. Highlights only, will probably last longer than that.

Spurs haven't got a prayer, I put a tenner on them a couple of weeks ago.
So it's YOUR fault!?

A mate had a tenner at 2250/1, just cashed out and got (IIRC) £19k.
As a fairweather city fan I am still stunned at this season, I recall matches where we were happy with a 0-0 at the likes of Tranmere.
we all are to be fair. Witnessing this happen is like some sort of odd dream. Still hard to believe you will actually win it, barring disasters. As a fairweather city fan I am still stunned at this season, I recall matches where we were happy with a 0-0 at the likes of Tranmere.
Great story.
Always been a blue myself. (ok, Everton, but they look almost the same so I'll be cheering Leicester).

The last team to be promoted and then win the title in their second year in the top flight is in living memory for most on here. Great story.

Don't think that's been done since the Premier League came into existence but it did happen just before! However, that team had a very solid first season back in the top flight (unlike Leicester last year!) and probably had one of the best midfield quartets of any side in the last 25 years (not that I'm biased or anything!). Sadly we've spent a rather long time plumbing the depths in recent years but clubs like Leicester, West Ham and Southampton (and others) have at least proved it's possible to return to the top flight and be competitive when you get there; we live in hope although we probably need a new owner before the dream is likely to become a reality... Agreed, I just thought it was worth mentioning that it's happened before, although Leeds did have a much better first season in the top flight. Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
