Did Klopp use a specialist DM at Dortmund?
Yes, Sven Bender and another one who I can't spell. They sometimes played 2 defensive midfielders. So that's why I'm surprised we appear to be offloading them so readily.

And as for this talk of not playing with a defensive midfielder - jesus give me strength. Name the last decent team without a water carrier.

There was some jokey footage of Klopp with Lallana at the end of the season with Klopp making a joke (forget what, exactly) but it was inferring "Adam needed to know when Spurs' preseason started" or something - Lallana had that "wtf please be joking" look while Klopp thought it was hilarious - I was assuming that was Klopp's joking about speculation that Lallana would be offloaded to Spurs and that there was no truth in it.

It would be a bit sadistic for Klopp to laugh about it if it were true.
Lallana was being interviewed at Anfield and Klopp just happen to walk past and he said to the interviewer,

"Have you asked him when Tottenham's pre season starts?"

And then he ran off laughing.

Understandably, He's struggled in a mid table team the thought of him being able to step up a level is laughable.

Looks like the Swans may also be in for Allen at £13m...

Just hope that Stoke don't withdraw their offer if Allen is waiting for the Swans to bid... and then Jenkins offers less.

Indeed, he has struggled. But I reckon he'd find his level again at Spurs.

So we've decided on this young Newcastle lad ahead of Gotze who has gone back for 20 odd million.

I'm sure Klopp knows what he did there. I do wonder did he try and fail to get Gotze or decided he preferred the young lad from Newcaste?

What does everyone else think ? personally I think Clyne is as solid as you can get for a RB, and his attacking abilities for me a very very underrated.
Clyne is as good as we've had a RB in years... clone him, but with a left foot please.

I think Klopp wanted to sort a deal before the Euros, but Gotze wanted to hedge his bets and see if he could stay at Bayern. Hence not showing the desire that Klopp wants to see from potential recruits and then combined with Gotze being piss poor at the Euros we walked away from it. I also think Mane rather than Wijnaldum was the Gotze alternative.

Yup, Gotze showed no real desire to come, by all accounts, once we were out of Europe. Imagine Klopp would have stopped right there, from everything he's said. He's come out a couple of times since and said how he only wants players who want to play for us - I took it that Gotze was one of those he was aiming at.

Gotze didn't really cover himself in roses at the Euros or his weird public desire to stay at Bayern, when they came out and said "bugger off", in effect.

At this level his touch is average, always has his head down and can't see the best option/pass, his final ball is very average, but he is still young and will get better.
I agree with Sye he rarely puts a foot wrong, Probably our most consistent player last year, One of the best RB's in the league imo... Are you dure you are watching the right player hehe

Yes but that's down to his athleticism and pace that saves his blushes as technically he is very average.

We shall agree to disagree then.
