Klopp used him sparingly, but he always did well when given the chance. The more players we have in form, the stronger the squad. I hope he stays. He has a role to play next season.

I wonder if we can say the same for Henderson...?
Can't see him really being a part of the team, certainly not Captain.
Rumours are he's still heading for the exit.

Who'd have thought a year ago, that we would be keen for Allen to stay and not bothered about Henderson leaving?

Funny old game.

That is so true.. I will be gutted if Allen leaves but quite happy for Henderson to leave.. If he can't find his form of 2+ years ago then he simply ain't good enough for anything more than a squad player, and certainly not a captain.

I think he should be judged on performances when he's fit.

Agreed as he played all last season injured and not 100%

In an ideal world, that's what would happen, but I get the impression that Klopp is far from enamoured with him. It also still riles me he was made captain (therefore making it a talking point everytime he gets dropped) because he never has been and never will be LFC captain material.

No current squad member will fill Gerrards boots as captain thou I would have had Skrtel with 320 appearances over Henderson.

Truth is, and disappointing as it sounds, we don't have a great candidate for a captain at the moment.

That just shows the fickleness and short memories on fan forums. Hendo isn't a bad player overnight. He played most of last season with injuries, by all accounts. To be fair, few on here as bad as those who post on some other forums... biggrin

Very true - but Skrtel was playing badly whenever he got back in the team. We are really short on leaders. Milner has experience but he doesn't seem to be that kind of inspirational leader either.

I thought Henderson played well for England the other night, and I hope he can get past his injury problems and play a part for us next season.

Having said that, Can bosses the midfield at the moment for us, and looks more like a captain the Henderson.

I'd be happy if Can was given it now. He's a leader, consistent and if fit he plays, none of which can really be said of Henderson .

Can is nowhere near the finished article yet. At his age, he's learning - making him a captain wouldn't be the right thing at this stage. IMO anyway. Maybe a couple of years though, if he stays consistent.

I would be tempted to offer it to PC to try and keep him.

Nope, forget new money clubs or current English Champion league teams as still only 2 giant clubs in this country, Liverpool and scum Utd are different monsters to any other English team and if players don't won't to play for us it's time to get rid, just like we did with Sterling who is now playing in a half full stadium with no atmosphere every week.

Strong contribution from the newcomer.

Coutinho isn't the captain type. Nor should you ever consider saying "we should give him the captaincy just so he doesn't leave".

Can, I'd say it's a season or two too early for him.

None of the defence have been fit/on form enough for it, except maybe Clyne, but again he's not the captaincy type.

Milner would probably be my best candidate, but he's hardly dynamic.
