This is consistent with what Klopp has been saying all along, to be fair. Albeit transition with actual signs of improvement. I reckon if we get in the top 4 in a season with no Euro matches, that would be a very good season. Decent cup performances a bonus of course - that should be do-able.

Few pictures on Twitter of this mornings training. Balo is smiling, for now.

Welcome back RT. For now ;-)

I can't see why it would be another year of transition?

We've had, what, four players come in, with maybe another one yet to arrive. That's got to be about average for summer arrivals. It's not a high amount of new players coming in to the team. The rest of the squad have already had 2/3rds of a season with Klopp, they know his style, what he wants from the team.

This is not a season of transition like the one after we lost Suarez and had to completely change our playing style, this is simply a season to build on the one before.

Quite frankly, if we can't get top four without any European distractions this season then we're a bit screwed!

Welcome back RT !

So after watching him have a cracking tournament for my beloved Wales, what do we think about Joe ? Keep or sell ?

I completely agree with this - Klopp would have had nearly 2 full seasons and 4 transfer windows at the end of this season - no cup finals and outside of top 4 would be a disappointment.

I think with too many young players you will have to accept we will get inconsistency, which in turn will affect results. We have the makings of a great orchestra but lack a conductor on the pitch. IMO of course.

Maybe, but don't forget that we could stuff up any chance of top 4 in the first few months, when Klopp would have been in charge for less than a year. We need to show top 4 form for the whole year to finish top 4, which very easily may not happen.

I don't buy this young team stuff. Spurs went within a whisker of finishing above Arsenal with a young team last season. We're getting a good spine to the team no;, Sakho/Lovren - Can/Henderson - Countinho/Sturridge - nearly all of whom are getting to a good age.

I think we should be capable of getting top four with the squad we've got.

Yeah, wasn't it once said by one of our greats that you'll never win anything with kids, and look how wrong he was! laugh

Well you're going to need some defenders for a start.

Everyone is going to be stronger & if Leicester carry on who knows how good we or you are going to have to be to make the top 4.

When teams like Spurs, West Ham & Crystal palace are offering up to £25M plus for a player & Watford & Leicester are turning down huge sums for their players you can be sure there will be no easy games

I really do think that next seasons premier league will be the best it's ever been.

I don't think our defenders are that bad. Our LB position is a problem, but maybe not with Gomez and Flanno back this season.

I agree, I think it'll be a great season once again, but for me it's not about who spends how much on which player, it's which club manages to get their team to gel together and work as a team - as we saw with Leicester last year, Wales and Iceland in the Euros, etc.

Klopp came in and said he would be rebuilding, over several seasons. When pressed about winning the title, he said (I think, from memory) "maybe in about 3 years". Whether you call it transition, or rebuilding, he was clearly trying to keep expectations under control (in public).

I hope you're right - last season was definitely the most unpredictable so far; I hope that continues. Definitely makes it more exciting.

Talk of Lovren being given the captaincy.

Could be a very good move if it does happen. Much more of a 'natural' leader than Henderson, who was never a captain for me. Could also raise Lovren's game given the responsibility.

I'd have no objection to it. Be quite a turnaround for the fella.
