Great idea. No European matches so a good chance to get youngsters more first team experience. We have the space in our calendars, perhaps.

Never been a fan until recently, he's having a good tourney in France which can only help his confidence & ability .


Think it will be a mistake selling him right now.

I seem to recall him being injured or never fully fit for a lot of the season. I think the reason he is playing so well now is because he is fully fit. As for sell or not? I'm not sure.

TBH I agree, he is not going to play 1st team players and our need game time under Klopp

If Klopp fields an Academy-type/U21 team for all the games, them yes I would fully agree with you - would be good experience.

He is a decent player but the mindset we need to have fans now is, is decent good enough, would he get in any other top 4 side? probably not so why should he get in ours if that is our aim.. he is more than good enough for top 6/8 teams but we want to break away from that, so if Jurgen thinks getting 14m for him is good business and getting someone else better (in his eyes, as we probably wont know much about him) is the way forward then I back him 100% ...

Agree 100% - if he was happy playing a bit part I would keep him as a) he seems to have a good attitude and b) he is a useful bench / utility player and you do need some of those.

I don't think £14M is a particularly generous bid given his quality and current Euro profile, £20M should be minimum ask though we are always crap at securing proper sales fees

Allen has been playing like this a while now with every fan from every club telling us how st he is for ages...we have all said for quite a while he is decent, just probably not good enough to win you a league,
now 4 decent games for Wales (no better than he has played for us) and he is a demi god and we would be mad to sell him.....

None of us know JK's plans for incommings so if he chooses to sell him we have to believe he has a plan - lets not build Joe Allen up to be the next Inniesta, he is a decent player and yes would make a very good squad player...but he is not some world beater, he has been with us for years now and never managed to hold down first 11 even when we are finishing 7th and 8th and under different managers including his buddy from Swansea so that should tell us all something...

We don't know the ins and outs on deals so we could only say that based on what we see. Additionally, I think the way we seem to be playing hard ball with the offers for Benteke and Luis Alberto would suggest that's not the case now.

I guess we'll see.

According to this, we've been invited but not responded yet. And other Prem clubs have been too, so no WUMing .

good point - I guess if we extend contract in order to achieve a higher price, his wages go up (in the new deal) and it makes him less attractive so knocking the sales price back down again

Hmm. The echo had earlier reported in their daily newsfeed that we had agreed to take part!

Sticking point appears to be having to guarantee use of Anfield for at least 1 game?! Surely we should be able to manage that. I like the idea of it being mainly for the youngsters and the Prem clubs have to give back some of the gate receipts to be split down the tree a bit.
