Until I see our team playing, and what Klopp has plans for I am not really gonna sit here and question any of his signings tbh ....

I'm unsure of the lack of defensive midfield cover so far. Even if this becomes Cann's role, he can't play every game. It just isn't Henderson, Milner or Wijnaldum's natural game. The Wijnaldum one is a strange one for me. From what I've read of him, I'd say he was another attacking midfielder that plays in the 3 behind the striker.
That or the attacking one of a 2 in CM -Maybe he is looking at Milner, Can, Henderson as his DM options...
Another thing regarding this whole DM thing is that Can himself likes to bomb forward on occasion. It's part of his natural game. So if he does consistently play 4231, with either Hendo or Milner partnering, if one of them does inevitably go forward, the other will have to show restraint. I think Milner in that position could be interesting. Wijnaldum for me definitely won't be played there (unless there are injuries and it is forced and even then, I think he would probably go for a formation change).

Nice to have options though too m3sye said:

Origi instead of Sturridge and I would have Lallana starting as well. Back 6 also looks very average.
msaybe to you but not to me...apart from Moreno... Clyne good as any RB in the prem, Matip rated in team of the year in Germany, Lovren massively improved and proved to be a very good CB under klopp - Can for me will become one of the best CM's in the prem in the next 2 years... Karius and the guy from Newcastle maybe in question till people see them play under Klopp...Lallana in for who??
Origi for Sturridge will happen I agree...but I do believe both will be played a lot.

Lallana and Couts and one of the others, Clyne is a fantastic athlete but not such a fantastic footballer yet, though played the game of his life for England so hopefully he will get better with his final ball etc, Moreno should never play left back again as he can't defend, Lovren I'm still not convinced and that goes for Can as well though he did play better at the end of the season, Henderson really needs to pick up his form this year now he is injury free.
So you can see Lallanas 9 prem goals in 57 games, getting ahead of Firminos 10 in 30, And Mane's 22 in 67 ? not so sure about that- quite clear JK is trying to add pace, skill and goals into our team...I like Lallana a lot, I am just not sure he contributes to goals either via assists or goals to warrant a constant 1st 11 spot...

Yes I think Lallana contributed more overall though when Firmino is playing well he is a class act but more than often he goes missing.I like Lallana a lot, I am just not sure he contributes to goals either via assists or goals to warrant a constant 1st 11 spot...

We certainly have a a lot of potential match winners in our team now thats for sure, cant remember a time we have had so many in our potential 1st 11 tbh
Sturridge
Coutinho Firmino Mane
Can Wijnaldum
Moreno Matip Lovren Clyne
Karius
With a very strong bench
Origi
Ings
Henderson
Milner
Klavan
Lallana
Mignolet
Not including a raft of other players and youth with a lot of potential, looking forward to the season now, can just see 1 more player (LB) coming in before we start.
I'm not sure this is 100% true. We thought we had a lot of good new potential a few seasons ago. It just turned out they didn't turn it on enough throughout a season. For example Lallana - we all thought he would be a good/great signing but he just hasn't done enough. Sturridge
Coutinho Firmino Mane
Can Wijnaldum
Moreno Matip Lovren Clyne
Karius

Origi

I'm not questioning Klopp, since we need to see what his plan is, but to me it seems like we have a lot of similar midfielders. It's not very clear what his plan is. But just need to wait until the season starts.
Main person to be replaced I think is Moreno. I think he causes the whole defense issues. When (rather than if) he messes up the others try and cover for him a bit, which then leads to them leaving gaps where they should be covering. I think the whole defense would improve when he is gone.

Goes missing for 80mins then scores to get us the win against does a lot around the box, tracks people down but misses the chance to win the game, i know which ill take... Lallana was a great hope, as were others, and yes they didn't kick on. But most if not all of us are agreed that that he and the others improved under Klopp. I think the pre season prep will really pay dividends on those players and the new signings. With less games and more time to train through the season, I can only see us getting better as the season goes on.
There, I've stuck my neck out - feel free to hang me with this, come May.

Unless Klopp has tapped up Bender.
There was some jokey footage of Klopp with Lallana at the end of the season with Klopp making a joke (forget what, exactly) but it was inferring "Adam needed to know when Spurs' preseason started" or something - Lallana had that "wtf please be joking" look while Klopp thought it was hilarious - I was assuming that was Klopp's joking about speculation that Lallana would be offloaded to Spurs and that there was no truth in it.
It would be a bit sadistic for Klopp to laugh about it if it were true.

I personally wouldn't shed a tear if Lallana left even to Spurs. He hasn't reproduced any of his Southampton form for us however I do get the feeling Klopp likes him, he works hard in training etc - he just needs step up a bit and play like a £25m player should. Adding a few more goals to his game etc.

A friend remarked to me recently that Lallana is similar to Henderson. An athlete with little end product. I thought that was a bit harsh but I can see where he's coming from.
Agree it is harsh but it is fair, he is another one of the underachievers that we always seem to attract. Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
