He's not being played at the moment. Again, you can't extrapolate that over a 38 game season because we're on 3 in! Let's get to Christmas and then see how many games he's played and how many goals he's scored.
It's not new. He was left on the bench or used as a sub quite a few times last season when he (appeared) to be fit.I think that's where quite a few of us are commenting - we are not taking 3 games in isolation, but looking at last season, what has actually changed, and therefore what is better/ worse than what we had last season.
I could be completely wrong, and maybe Klopp will turn Milner into a fantastic LB, Wijnaldum will transform into a great DM, finally Lallana and Henderson will start get lots of goals and Firmino will become consistent, rather than being very hit or miss. But my general view is when they have been here for a season or two, or are used to playing in a different position then probability suggests it will not happen.
Sturridge was only fit in the last, what, 3 or 4 league games last season? I remember Klopp being very cautious about bringing him back due to all the set backs he'd had. I think Klopp is understandably treating him gently in terms of game time because not only does he not want to get injured again, but he also needs to up his stamina in order to join in our intensive style. Throw him in to 3 or 4 incredibly intensive away games against the likes of Arsenal, Spuds and Chelsea and he's only going to get injured again.
I think we're all being incredibly unfair on Wijnaldum too. He's been with us for just over a month? Let the guy settle in to the team for Christs sake!
I'll let the LB experiment run a little while, but I thought Milner did exceptionally well there on Saturday in what will be one of the toughest tests he'll get in that position this season.

I have a feeling Sturridge is more being moved out due to his style/ attitude. But we can see what happens there. Either of us could be right on that (or both wrong, ).I think we're all being incredibly unfair on Wijnaldum too. He's been with us for just over a month? My view is not the issue on how he is playing, but why we bought an attacking midfielder for a more defensive midfielder position? That's nothing to do with Wijnaldum himself. He may come good there (and so should be given time) - but why not just buy someone who is used to that position? It's a bit like the silly Gerrard experiment all over again.
Milner has done well there generally, and I don't think he will do badly there in future. But why not get someone specialised there? He got lots of assists last season, and so I would actually play Milner instead of Henderson, and then have a proper LB to play instead of Moreno. I think we'll lose out on having to use Milner there when he did so well in assists before.

Absolutely spot on from Paul Tomkins:
More nonsense from Tomkins. It wouldn't surprise me if he was on FSGs payroll. Our transfer activity has left us in profit since Klopp came in and that is without the tv money. The premier league isn't a 2 team league nor are we another premier league team's feeder club. We either have the money to buy players or we don't. It would appear we don't as I refuse to believe Klopp would willingly start a season where he is playing a veteran right sided midfielder as left back and trying to mould an attacking midfielder into a central one.Tomkins said:
'I think that when fans of a certain disposition craved Klopp – when they hounded John Henry with every tweet – they were actually just wanting his Dortmund team, and his Dortmund success. They didn’t want the process where his Dortmund side went from average to outstanding over two-to-three years, probably because they didn’t even notice it – unless they were keen Bundesliga aficionados. They just saw the exciting team Dortmund had become and thought “want that”. Sure, but how did Klopp make it?'
You wanted Klopp, we've got Klopp. Stop the moan and enjoy the ride.

And this nonsense about anyone wanting rid of the manager, there is not one person I've seen say or write this.

I really can't see him putting up with anything less than 100% backing.

The club have said nothing about chasing after every midfielder in Europe either - that all seems to be press and agent talk. Most of which probably isn't even true.
The idea that Tomkins is on the FSG payroll too seems far fetched. What on earth for? They don't need covert good PR, most think they're doing a decent job already.

I think FM's post is about where the truth is. If Klopp thought a LB was our priority this summer and that the right one was available I've no doubt the money would have been made available to get one.
It does seem a bit strange that you'd let some of the other full backs leave when your back up choice is Milner. desolate said:

I would say there has been a private directive within the club to recycle the money from the sale of players. A private agreement between FSG and Klopp. Of course no one can say for sure as any such agreement would never be made public at least whilst Klopp is in charge. Klopp has signed the players he wants for sure but within the restrictions based on sales. At the end of the day, the expansion of the stadium didn't come from extra sales of scarves . It comes from careful money management, elimation of debt and generating extra revenue streams especially in foreign markets.
Add trying too offload our stand out centre back from last season when the only back up is a steady squad filler and a kid that has never played there at this level.
There is something else going on here with our inability to strengthen at left back and centre midfield. I'm sure it'll come out sooner or later.

In his interviews when he started Klopp as much as said it his his way or no way.And just like any other top manager he will ditch a player that doesn't toe the line.
(As did Fergie and Mourinho)
Looks like Sturridge will be next if he doesn't comply.

I don't have an issue with that. No player is above the manager, ultimately. If you can't just get on and do your job on 100k a week then toddle off elsewhere...And just like any other top manager he will ditch a player that doesn't toe the line.

Oh I have no issue with selling Sakho or Sturridge if the manager doesn't fancy them. Loaning them out is a bit of a strange one but not replacing Sakho for me is just as strange as not buying a left back or not having anyone to cover at right back when Clyne is out.
We had Lucas on the bench this weekend as the only centre back cover. We're taking a huge gamble here and if it's not related to money then I struggle to understand it.
